I'm taking requests because writer's block is a thing.

It's 2006 and you're the new Special Agent at the Behavioral Analysis Unit, or BAU for short, and you're being shown around by Supervisory Special Agent Hotchner, at your request. You've been shown the debriefing conference room with a round table and a monitor, and where your desk is so far. Along the way you've met Agent Morgan and Agent Greenaway and now you're on your way to Communications Liaison Jennifer Jareau when you reach another agent's desk. He stands up as he sees you and you see he's quite tall, his hazel eyes flickering with curiosity as he takes in the newcomer. The brown-haired, skinny guy with glasses takes a small step forward as you and Hotch stop to greet him.

"Agent (L/N), this is-" Hotch starts but you cut him off from excitement.

"Doctor Spencer Reid!" You say with a bit too much enthusiasm. You clear your throat and extend your hand.

"My name is (Y/F/N). It's nice to finally meet you in person! I went to some of your presentations last year and you just fascinate me," You add. He nods and gives you a tight-lipped smile, waving very awkwardly.

"You can call me Reid, or Spencer.....your choice," he says, his voice is laced with shyness as he pushes his glasses further up the bridge of his nose.

"I'm the, uh, team's resident genius," he adds, immediately regretting his awkward comment.

"It's nice to meet you too," he says quickly as his final comment before sitting back down and immediately opening a file, trying to forget all that happened, including avoiding eye contact.

You and Hotch finally reach Agent Jareau's office and she greets you with a warm smile, shaking your hand happily. She introduces herself as JJ then picks up multiple files off her desk looking directly at Hotch.

"I'd like to talk to you about some cases that I think we should look at," JJ says, sitting down. Hotch nods to you, telling you to give them privacy.

You close the door behind you and glance around the hall seeing people walking by, doing their jobs, and you suddenly feel a little overwhelmed now that you're alone. You wander and find the break room where a fresh pot of coffee sits; you can tell by the smell. You walk further into the room and see that someone's already in here; Spencer Reid. You smile and walk up behind him.

"Hi again!" You say tapping his shoulder once. He flinches and spills sugar on the counter, looking over his shoulder very startled.

"Oh, uh, hi," Spencer responds looking back at the counter.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. Here..."

You rush to his side and start pushing sugar into your cupped hand off the counter to help him clean up. You glance to the side and see he has a Star Wars mug with his name labelled on it. You can feel your cheeks heat up just a little bit.

"Uh, thanks."

There's some weird silence as you two clean up but he decides to break it. He figures he can't be this awkward with you if you're going to be working with him every day. He clears his throat before speaking.

"So, what were you doing before the BAU?"

"Training, actually. Finished at the academy a few months ago," you say proudly as you shake off the sugar from your hands into the garbage can. Reid raises an eyebrow, a flicker of interest in his hazel eyes.

"Oh, a recent graduate, huh?" His curiosity is piqued. "Well, you're in for quite the experience here at the BAU. It'll be a lot different from the academy. I hope you're prepared for the intensity—we deal with the most heinous and complex cases known to mankind."
