Prologue

In the dimly lit room, two figures stood close together, their excitement palpable in the air. They exchanged eager whispers, their voices barely above a hushed murmur, as if afraid of being overheard.

One of them reached into her pocket, withdrawing a small, gleaming object. With a secretive smile, she extended her hand, offering it to the other.

"This is for you," she whispered, her eyes shining with an intensity that belied the casualness of her words.

The recipient of the gift hesitated, a furrow forming between her brows as she examined the object in her palm. It was a ring, simple yet elegant, adorned with a single shimmering stone.

"What is it?" she asked, her confusion evident in her tone.

But before she could receive an answer, the giver of the ring chuckled softly, her fingers closing around the other's hand, guiding it to slip the ring onto her finger.

"It’s a symbol," she said, her voice laced with a mix of bitterness and hidden pain. "Of promises and ties that aren’t easy to escape. Wear it always. It might just remind you of the chains we’re bound to… like a commitment you never chose."

The recipient's confusion lingered, not fully grasping the hint. She allowed herself to be distracted, drawn into the warmth of the other's embrace. In that moment, surrounded by the weight of unspoken secrets and unspoken promises, they held each other tightly, their laughter echoing softly in the stillness of the room.

Little did they know, that simple ring would indeed play a major part in their lives, shaping their destinies in ways they could never have imagined.
