There was no way this was happening. There was no way this was happening.

Yet there he was. Right in front of me. Only mere metres away and just at arm's length. Ethan Stone. The Ethan Stone.

He was so close I could smell his lightly scented deodorant, I could pick out all the little details – like the small crease between his thick brows as he watched me with sheer curiosity, and the glimmering in his wind swept jet black hair. The streak lines where he'd run his fingers through it. The way his chin was slightly square and the glint of brown in his dark eyes.

How I know this is a dream; one, there was no force on Earth that would ever compel The Ethan Stone to even approach me. Two, there was no force on Earth that would compel The Ethan Stone to approach me. Yet it was happening

Not that I was obsessed or anything, of course.

His thin pouted auburn lips parted and sucked in a wisp of breath as I held mine in anticipation. My fingers tightened round the juice box I held onto like a life line. I looked up at him through black rimmed glasses with wild Bambi eyes.

Ethan licked his bottom lip nervously. Saint Barnaby Bear, how do you make even that look attractive? I thought. His eyes darted to the right for a short instance before he huffed and tucked his hands into the pockets of his jacket. Then he took them out again and he pulled his right hand through hair again.

Then he said the next three words I thought would never – ever – hear, and I swear my heart stopped.

"I need you."
