When he ignores you for a game.
The sound of furious clicking and the chatter of Heeseung's gaming session echoed through the apartment. You walked towards his room, the place he often retreated to write songs, work on his computer, or, as of late, play games with his members. You knocked softly before pushing the door open.
"What are you doing?" you asked, already knowing the answer.
"I'm playing a game with the guys," Heeseung mumbled, eyes glued to the screen, fingers never pausing on the keyboard.
"You've been on the game for hours, Heeseung. Can we spend some time together?"
He shook his head, not even sparing you a glance. "I'm busy. I'll come out later."
You rolled your eyes, frustration bubbling inside you. With a sigh, you turned and walked back to the bedroom, sitting on the bed and hoping he'd come out soon. Two hours passed, and nothing changed. You checked your phone again, growing increasingly annoyed.
Determined, you walked back to his room. He was still there, laughing and joking with his headphones on. You tapped his shoulder, but he didn't react. You tried again, but this time, he turned to you, annoyance clear in his eyes.
"Can you leave me alone? I'll lose if you keep distracting me!"
His sharp tone felt like a slap in the face. You recoiled, hurt evident in your expression. Pouting, you walked back to your room, feeling neglected. You decided you weren't going to sit around waiting anymore. Pulling on a hoodie and denim, you tied your hair into a ponytail and decided to go out for some bubble tea and maybe visit your PROMISE members.
As you tied your shoes on the couch, you heard a frustrated shout from Heeseung's room. Moments later, his door opened, and he walked out. He paused when he saw you, his expression shifting from irritation to surprise.
"Where are you going?" he asked, his voice softer now.
You mumbled, not looking at him, "Out. Need some air."
You stood up, grabbing your bag. As you walked towards the door, Heeseung's hand shot out, grabbing you by the waist and pulling you back. You stumbled slightly, turning to look at him, your eyes filled with a mix of hurt and defiance.
"Wait... I'm sorry," he said, his voice sincere but tinged with desperation. "I didn't realize how long I've been playing. Please, don't go."
You pulled away from his grasp, your hurt turning into frustration. "Heeseung, you've been ignoring me all day. And the way you spoke to me... it really hurt."
Heeseung's face fell as he realized the extent of his actions. "I know, and I'm really sorry. I got so caught up in the game that I didn't think about how you felt. Please, let me make it up to you."
You crossed your arms, your eyes narrowing slightly. "It's not that easy, Heeseung. You can't just ignore me and then expect everything to be fine when you're done playing."
Heeseung ran a hand through his hair, clearly struggling to find the right words. "I know I messed up. I know I hurt you. Just... please give me a chance to make it right. Let's go get bubble tea together. My treat."
You hesitated, the anger still simmering inside you. But you could see the genuine remorse in his eyes, and a part of you wanted to believe he meant it.
"Fine," you said finally, your voice still tinged with hurt. "But this doesn't mean everything is okay. You really need to understand how your actions affect me."
Heeseung nodded, his expression serious. "I do. I promise I'll do better. I don't want to make you feel like this again."
As you walked out together, Heeseung's hand found yours, squeezing it gently. You let out a sigh, hoping that this time, he truly meant it. The walk to the bubble tea shop was quieter than usual, but as you stood in line, Heeseung kept glancing at you, a mixture of worry and affection in his eyes.
"I'm really sorry," he said again, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'll do whatever it takes to make it up to you."
You nodded, taking a deep breath. "Just... be here, Heeseung. That's all I need."
Heeseung squeezed your hand again, his grip firm and reassuring. "I promise. From now on, I'll be here."
As you sipped your bubble tea, you felt a small flicker of hope. Maybe today wasn't perfect, but it was a start. And for now, that was enough.
