The sound of distant explosions echoed through the dark, cold room. I stirred,my head throbbing from the effects of whatever drugs had been coursing through my veins. The damp, metallic scent of the facility was familiar now, a constant reminder of my imprisonment.I struggled to remember how long I had been here—weeks, months? Time blurred in this place.
I had been an ordinary teenager, living an ordinary life until I had been snatched off the streets by HYDRA agents. For no apparent reason. They had subjected me to the same experiments that Wanda and Pietro Maximoff had endured, my cellmates. The experiments had changed me, given me abilities I was still struggling to control and understand.
I can feel the energy pulsing through my veins, a gift and a curse that I was only beginning to understand. I didn't know the full extent of my powers yet, but I had seen glimpses. The ability to manipulate Air and water, and maybe even more that I hadn't discovered.
My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching. I tensed, ready for another round of brutal tests, but instead, the door to her cell was thrown open. Light flooded in, I blinked against it, trying to make out the figures standing in the doorway.
It was the familiar red and gold armor of Iron Man filled. Tony Stark's voice, filtered through his suit's speakers, reached my ears.
"Hey there, kid. We're getting you out of here."
My heart pounded in my chest as Tony stepped into the room, his helmet retracting to reveal a determined yet gentle expression. He knelt beside me , his hand reaching out.
"Can you walk?" he asked.
I nodded, though my legs felt weak and unsteady. I took his hand, feeling the cold metal against my skin, and with his help, I managed to stand. He supported me as we made our way out of the cell and into the chaos of the HYDRA facility.
The sounds of battle were all around us
explosions, gunfire, the shouts of soldiers and Avengers. Tony kept me close, his suit's repulsors blasting away any threats that came too near.As they turned a corner, I saw Captain America, his shield deflecting bullets with precision. "Stark, what's the situation?" Steve Rogers called out.
"Just found a prisoner," Tony replied. "Getting her to safety."
Steve nodded, his focus never wavering from the fight. "Get her to the Quinjet. We'll cover you."
They moved quickly, Tony's armor shielding me from harm as we navigated through the mayhem. I could see the Quinjet up ahead, the ramp open and ready for them. Natasha Romanoff and Bruce Banner were already there, fighting off HYDRA agents to clear the way.
Just as we reached the ramp, a figure appeared in front of them—Pietro Maximoff. He stopped suddenly, his eyes locking onto me. For a moment, he seemed conflicted, but then he gave a quick nod.
The sight of Pietro triggered something in me. Memories of the experiments, of the pain and fear, surged through me. Without thinking, I turned and attacked Tony, using my air manipulation to create a force that knocked him off balance.
"Hey! What the—" Tony shouted, trying to stabilize himself.
Natasha reacted instantly and tackled me, using her skills to restrain me. I struggled against Natasha's grip, my powers flaring uncontrollably, but Natasha's training kept me pinned.
"Calm down, kid!" Natasha urged. "We're not your enemies."
My vision blurred with tears and panic, but i couldn't stop fighting. It was all too much—too overwhelming.
"Nat, let's get her on the Quinjet," Tony said, his voice calm and steady. "She needs help."
Together, they managed to drag me up the ramp and into the Quinjet. The ramp closed behind them. I slumped into a seat, my body aching and my spirit exhausted.
Steve and the rest of the Avengers boarded moments later, looking battered but triumphant. Steve turned to me, his expression softening . "You're safe now," he said. "We're going to take you somewhere secure, where you can rest and recover."
I nodded, too exhausted to speak. I glanced around at the faces of my rescuers, feeling a wave of gratitude and fear wash over me. I closed my eyes, letting the hum of the Quinjet's engines lull me into a restless sleep.
