Tayuya sat in the Hokage's office, her arms folded across her chest, a scowl etched deeply on her face. She wasn't thrilled about being in Konoha, much less being placed on a team with a bunch of Leaf shinobi. But she had to admit, it beat rotting away in some prison cell.
"You'll be joining Team 7," Tsunade, the Fifth Hokage, informed her. "Sasuke's departure left a vacancy, and you'll be filling it."
"Great, just what I always wanted," Tayuya muttered sarcastically.
"You'll follow Kakashi's orders and do as your team tells you. Any misstep, and you'll be back in custody," Tsunade warned sternly.
Tayuya rolled her eyes. "Yeah, yeah, I got it."
As she exited the Hokage's office, Tayuya couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. She was surrounded by Leaf shinobi who didn't trust her, and she couldn't blame them. After all, she was a former member of the Sound Four, a group of rogue ninja who had caused havoc during the Chunin Exams.
Joining Team 7 meant working closely with Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi. She wasn't looking forward to it, but she had no choice. As she approached the training grounds where her new team awaited, she braced herself for the inevitable hostility.
"Yo, Tayuya! You're finally here!" Naruto's enthusiastic voice cut through the tension.
Tayuya frowned. "Don't act so happy to see me, blondie. I'm not here by choice."
Naruto just grinned, unfazed by her sour mood. "Eh, no worries! We'll show you how awesome Team 7 can be!"
Tayuya scoffed but followed Naruto to where Sakura and Kakashi were waiting. Sakura eyed her warily, clearly still wary of the newcomer. Kakashi, ever the laid-back sensei, simply nodded in greeting.
"All right, everyone, let's get started," Kakashi said, clapping his hands together. "We have a mission to complete."
Over the next few weeks, Tayuya begrudgingly adjusted to life as a member of Team 7. She found herself impressed by Naruto's determination, Sakura's intelligence, and Kakashi's laid-back yet effective leadership style. But try as she might, she couldn't shake off her abrasive attitude.
During one training session, Tayuya couldn't resist letting her temper flare, berating Naruto for his lack of focus.
"Hey, Tayuya, ease up!" Naruto laughed, dodging her verbal onslaught. "You're not gonna scare me off that easily!"
Tayuya blinked, taken aback by Naruto's response. "What's your deal, idiot? Why do you keep laughing off everything I say?"
Naruto grinned sheepishly. "Hey, people have called me worse things than 'idiot.' And besides, you're pretty enough to get away with it."
Tayuya's cheeks flushed with indignation, but despite herself, she couldn't help but crack a small smile.
As time passed, Tayuya found herself slowly warming up to her new teammates, especially Naruto. His unwavering kindness and acceptance began to chip away at her rough exterior, and before she knew it, she found herself genuinely enjoying their time together.
One day, as they completed a particularly grueling mission, Tayuya found herself reflecting on her unexpected bond with Naruto and the rest of Team 7. Despite her initial reservations, she had found a sense of belonging she never thought possible.
"Hey, blondie," Tayuya called out, nudging Naruto with her elbow. "Thanks. For not giving up on me."
Naruto grinned, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. "No problem, Tayuya! You're a part of the team now, whether you like it or not!"
Tayuya rolled her eyes but couldn't hide the small smile that tugged at her lips. Maybe being a member of Team 7 wasn't so bad after all.
