Marceline gave up hope years ago that Simon was still in ice king somewhere and would break out and remember her. She'd spend hours in his castle surrounded by the penguins she hated oh so much trying to get him to remember. She hated how he thought everything she told him was made up stories and how he'd then tell her about Fionna and Cake.

She realised he was really gone after their jam session. She let herself hope when she found the song, that it would trigger memories and it would be the same again. Simon and Marcie against the world, just like it was in the apocalypse, now it was Ice King and Marceline…

The once close bond they had frayed and broken, they became close once again but it wasn't the same, it was never the same.

Marceline felt alone in her memories, Simon was gone and she was the only one to remember the struggle of survival. She remembered the time she was sick and Simon began losing hope they'd find food - only she remembered, no one to relive those horrible moments. Surrounded by everyone, yet all alone.

At present Marceline sat on the cold floor or the ice castle tuning her bass while Sim- Ice King sat on his throne, undivided attention to Gunther who had appeared to replace Marceline in this new life. She has to fight to keep the pathetic jealousy and the uncalled for resentment down, after all, this was not Gunther's fault.

It's not Gunther's fault that Simon is gone, it's not Gunther's fault that's she's all alone, it's not Gunther's fault-

"Marcie?"

Her head snapped in the direction of the voice.

Recognition plastered on Simon's face. He remembered her. Simon was back. HER Simon was back. He knew who she was. He remembered everything.

"Marcie, is that you?" He asked, unsure of his surroundings.

"Simon? Yes, it's me, Simon, it's m-"

She was interrupted "Simon? Who's Simon??"

As quickly as the recognition came it had faded and once again she was looking at a man who knew nothing of her or his own past.

And Marceline was left alone. Once More.
