I sit at the dinner table, obnoxiously chomping down on my food. "It's literally fucking chicken noodle soup. How do you smack on that?" My mom said rather annoyed by my childness. As a response I shrug my shoulders, smirking a little.
"You know what. Can you go look for Grandma Linda's diary in the attic please?" She asked wearing a smile of victory. And as soon as I heard the words 'you' and 'attic' the smile I thought would be permanently etched on my face suddenly disappeared.
"But momma, it's scary up there!" I whined objecting her offer. "Only one person died up there, your fine." She said back. Wait what? "Someone died?" My face then turned into a frown.
"Nah, I'm playing. Just go find her book." She said in her mean voice. That means it's the end of the conversation. Now I have no other choice but to do as she told me to.
"Fine." I say, ending the conversation, getting up from my chair, pushing it in behind me. As I make my way up the stairs I decide to purposely stomp loudly just to piss her off. "Stop doing that you little shit!" Her voice almost seeming to bounce off the walls straight into my ears. I seriously don't know what her fascination is with calling me that.
Lost in my thoughts, I see I'm already all the way up the stairs.
Once I turn the corner I see it. The door on the ceiling I was always scared of as a little kid. Oh well, I shrug my shoulders to myself. Building up the courage, I reach up, pulling on the rope getting an opening to the frightening hatch.
"Here goes nothing..." I mumble quietly to myself. This might be the end of my life. What if a scary monster eats me or something? I nervously go up the stairs entering the small room. "This place isn't so bad I guess." I say, feeling brave that I even went in here. I take a look around the room observing it. It's dark, with many cobwebs and boxes. I swear I keep seeing shadow people too. But my eyes lay upon something.
"Woahh.." I say I'm awe. No way? What is going on? I see something glowing. Who would just leave this magic artifact laying around? A time turner. At least that's what it looks like. I mean, I thought these things just existed in Harry Potter.
Forget that old diary, this is so much cooler. It was golden, its intricate carvings shimmering in the dim light. Curiosity ignited within me, so I did what any teen girl would do and reached out to touch it. As my fingers brushed against its cool surface, a surge of energy coursed through my body. What the fuck? It felt weird to have that much power. Am I turning into a wizard? I could cast spells on everyone! That would be funny.
"This is your only warning. Once you go to that past, you can't come back to your present." A random voice came out of no where. "Who said that?" I asked slightly paranoid. I looked around the quiet attic to see nothing or no one but myself. I guess I'm going nuts. I pondered it for a moment. "Why would I even go back into the past?" I asked more to myself. Why would anyone do that willingly? But maybe it would answer me back? And much to my surprise, it did.
"You have to complete a mission in the past. You will go back to the date of November 1st. You have half a month to befriend Gustav Åhr also known as Lil peep and get him to stop doing drugs. Or at least stop his death on November 15th 2017. The only catch is, if you fail, you are stuck there. If you succeed, you still can't go back, but at least you saved his life. Also finding an even greater reward." The booming voice said.
A greater reward? What would that be? Money? Love? It sounds fun though so why not give it a try? Who wouldn't?
"Okay." I said. I mean, it's not like it's actually real or anything. I hope. I'd lose everything in this life though. I don't really care, not much for me here anyway.
