The next morning, once Felix had gotten the confirmation from Hinata that Valerian hadn't left with Eowyn in the night, the crew was bustling with activity as they planned and prepared to rescue Eowyn.
Felix refused to relax, no matter how much his soulmates pleaded with him to take a break. He flitted from one group to another, checking how preparations were going.
When he finally relented after Hyunjin asked him to relax for the tenth time that morning, he went over to where Atlas was drawing pictures in the dirt with a stick. He sat down next to the boy and for a moment it was quiet, only the sound of Atlas humming softly as he made images of a stick man fighting what looked like some sort of monster.
"Hey, sweetie, I wanna ask you something," Felix murmured, gently rubbing the boy's shoulder.
Atlas looked up at him with a beaming smile, and Felix was struck with the thought, "How could anyone have hurt this adorable angel?"
"What question, Mama?" The little boy scrambled up onto Felix's lap.
Felix smiled down at Atlas and asked, "Eowyn won't recognize me, honey. What should I tell her so that she knows I have you?"
Atlas thought for a moment before his face lit up with an idea. "Call her Wynnie! No one but me and Mama called her that. If you call her that, she'll know I told it to you! Call her Wynnie. She'll trust you."
Felix smiled softly down at the boy in his lap, bringing him into a gentle embrace. "Thank you, lovely. That's very helpful."
When the sun was starting to set, the crew finished with their preparations. Felix was suited up with all the protection he could ask for, and then he was off. Hinata was the only one who knew the exact location of the HATS camp, so she led him most of the way to the camp.
"This is where I leave you, Lix. Please be careful. Just get in there, get Eowyn, and get out."
Felix knew that Hinata was better suited for this, considering this was a stealth mission and Hinata was the Sun Searcher's spy, but he also knew that his instincts would have caused him to go crazy if he and he alone wasn't the one to save Eowyn.
"She'll be in the tent farthest from the direction you enter the camp. There will be a single human guarding her tent, but one whiff of this will knock him right out." She handed Felix a vial full of dark purple dust. When opened it would create a puff of smoke that would target human immune systems and put any human in the vicinity to sleep.
"Eowyn shouldn't be affected, but make sure you close it as soon as the guard is knocked out, just in case. You need her awake so you can convince her to shift."
Felix nodded, taking the vial and slipping it into his belt. "Thank you, Hina."
"Yeah, yeah. Just promise me you'll be careful." Hinata stared him in the eyes with a cold confidence.
Felix nodded. "I promise I'll come back in one piece, and I'm bringing Eowyn with me."
Hinata took a deep breath. "Alright. Just keep going in that direction." With that, she disappeared into the trees, back the way they came from.
Felix moved forward as quietly as possible. Just because Hinata was the spy of the crew, didn't mean that Felix couldn't be stealthy too.
After only a few minutes, he reached the edge of a clearing. Inside the clearing, just like Hinata had promised, was the HATS crew's camp. It was about the same size as the Sun Searcher's camp, but the tents looked like they were much better quality.
Felix could hear noises, such as the clanging of pots and pans and the chatter of men and women. In the middle of all the tents, there was light from a fire, and most of the HATS agents were gathered around it, enjoying their dinner.
