Chapter 2 Morning
Third person pov.
~ Several years later. ~
Here's another early normal morning on Berk.
It is once again a few degrees south of freezing to death, the vikings out here that are running around with their weapons trying to keep their stock, family, friends and island safe are loud, pushy, and overall hectic. But that's the norm on this island and a norm with the vikings here.
Most early mornings are like this, it's very rare for it to be calm this time of dawn. Quite rare.
Almost all the vikings were awake and out there at this point, minus the younglings and their mothers or fathers that had to stay back to watch over them. That's the reason why it's so hectic out here, plus the fact that the pests here are causing half of the problem here.
Stupid pests.
“Where's Hiccup!?”
Asha looks up from her job that was given to her on this early morning to her semi guardian Gobber who's standing there shining his weapon and looking at her, waiting for her to respond.
She shrugs her shoulders, “I don't know…” It’s true though, right now she has no clue on where her best friend is.
All she knows is that Hiccup will probably be popping up out of nowhere soon to come and help them out. She's looking forward to the help from her best friend.
To say the least, she doesn't really want to be here or mainly here ‘alone’. She likes making things, but not this and not for the main purpose of killing things.
To her and others, she's a broken viking. Well not everyone here thinks of her as a broken viking.
Gobber was semi shocked here now. To him; well to most vikings here, the two, Hiccup and Asha are hardly apart from each other. The two are almost always seen together and almost not seen separate from each other. He is her half guardian, so he knows it's weird to not see her talking, laughing or joking around when she shows up for work with Hiccup. Most of the time she's sleeping over at Stoick and Hiccups then her own meaning they show up to work together. Today she didn't show up at home, but did not show up to work together. He was confused and kinda worried for the ‘young' lad.
However,
On cue, Hiccup comes running into the blacksmith shop. “Ah! Nice of you to join the party! I thought you'd been carried off!”
Asha places the weapon she was working on down and wanders off and back.
“What, who me? Nah, come on! I'm waaaay too muscular for their taste. They wouldn't know what to do with all…” he gestures to his skinny body “...this.”
Hiccup grabs his apron from Asha's hand and places it around him, “thank you,” he said pointing to his friend.
Asha nods her head. She went back to her spot and started sharpening the ax that Gobber got her working on again. It was very close to being done.
“Well, they need toothpicks, don't they?”
Done.
Asha steps away from the spot she's been standing at for a while and finally places the ax down onto the countertop with a semi lot of struggle again.
She was struggling when it came to the start.
Asha was strong, but not viking strong, so to most vikings, not strong. The ax she had to sharpen was fucking heavy to her. It was something that would be used by Stoick or Gobber; so who could blame her for not being able to pick it up without struggle or even putting it down without maybe hurting herself.
Asha walks over to Hiccup to take a few minute break until she's thrown something else to either fix or sharpen.
She stretches her arms up into the air as she yawns. She didn't get much sleep last night. Then all of this started to happen and she ended back here to her annoyance.
Her bright blue eyes landed on her best friend when they opened, but she could tell his eyes were fixed on something or more as someone, or more as a group of teen vikings that were helping put out fires that were the cause of the pests.
Her eyes landed on every single one of the teens as they wander off to get more water, the last one for her blue eyes to land on was Astrid.
Astrid was someone Asha wished she was.
Astrid was strong, smart, amazing, a born leader, beautiful and much more. She's the viking that Asha wished she could become.
The only things that the two have in common is the fact that the two are good with hand on hand combat, of course Astrid would win though. Both are smart, however, in smarts, Asha would win. It's not a competition though, and the two luckily know that.
Asha has been trying to become stronger. So far to her, nothing has changed. At times it does end with her getting checked over by Gothi because she's reckless.
A few words that could describe Asha feelings towards Astrid would be, envy. Envy for the fact that she wished she was more like her, more of a viking then she is now. If she was more like Astrid she could maybe fit the mold of a viking. This also came with some insecurity too, but she was also filled with gratitude towards Astrid.
She was thankful for Astrid. She did a lot for the vikings here. More than what she could do, so she was thankful for her, even though she has some problems that she needs to deal with because it's all on her.
Asha has a stupud brain when it comes to herself. Something Gobber and Hiccup hated.
As Asha's thinking about how opposite she is from Astrid, well most vikings, Hiccup is trying to get a better look of them, but Gobber comes and lifts him up and back into the shop.
“Oh, come on. Let me out, please? I need to make my mark!”
Gobber rolls his eyes, “Oh, you've made plenty of marks. All in the wrong places!”
“Please, two minutes. I'll kill a dragon-”
A sour taste comes to her mouth as she hears that comment come from her best friend's mouth. She hates the concept of death.
“My life will get infinitely better. I might even get a date.”
And it got even more sour.
