It was dark and gloomy the day the King died, as if the weather also mourned his passing. Even the crows gathered in a large group to surround the graveyard where the King was just buried.

But Wei Wuxian knew better.

Instead of mourning the passing of the King, surely they were all afraid of the return of the Crown Prince, the light bearer who showed a way in the darkest place, the one and only Hanguang Jun.

He already monitored the so-called White General's movement through all the years he was away to fight wars, in fear of his sudden change of heart. Thank god he did not return - until now.

It was inevitable - the King's sickness and his sudden departure from this world. No matter how hard he - as the King's most trusted right hand man, the Prime Minister - tried to secure every miracle drug and every magic to cure the King, but it was all in vain.

Wei Wuxian bit the nails on his fingers.

Truthfully, he was afraid of the Crown Prince.

The man emitted such a murderous aura and looked at him intensely as if he wanted to eat him alive. It was one of the reasons why he persuaded the King to send the Crown Prince to go to war, and it was almost 5 years ago.

He wondered if anyone believed that the Crown Prince was actually a cruel, heartless and sadistic man?

Wei Wuxian found out accidentally around 5 years ago.

The Crown Prince was attacked by the favorite pet of the neighboring Kingdom's Princess who liked him when they visited for the Crown Prince's coming of age's party, and the next day the pet - a rare bird of paradise with beautiful and colorful feathers - was missing. They only found its mangled empty cage with the colorful feather inside after looking around the premises and decided that the bird must have been killed by the rebel's group who wanted to seize the throne.

But Wei Wuxian remembered that last night, he saw the Crown Prince was roasting some kind of chicken in the garden with his bodyguards, and he wondered where he got the bird.

The question was answered in the morning when the emissary's guard was looking for the Princess' pet bird.

Ever since then, Wei Wuxian always avoided the Crown Prince and his lingering, intense gaze, like he was some kind of a predator. So when he was sent out to quench the rebellion all over the borders, Wei Wuxian could finally breathe easier.

But with the King's death, it was inevitable that the Crown Prince would come back sooner rather than later to take the throne, and he had to do something about that.

That man was too vicious to become a wise ruler, and instead of being a tyrant, he would be better off dead and let his cousin take over the throne since he knew the cousin would be a benevolent ruler.

Wei Wuxian then decided to ask for advice from the only one he trusted.

He pressed the chandelier and turned it left, then a door slid open to reveal a series of staircases down.

The walk down ws somber, since he didn't really like to come here if he had no valid reason. Like how to deal with the deranged psycho Crown Prince who looked like a Godsent angel.

Wei Wuxian sighed as he continued the ominous walk toward the basement, and finally he faced the heavy wooden door with multiple magical and physical lock on it, and he unlocked them one by one - which took him a considerable time - before he stepped foot into the medium sized chamber with nothing inside except for something on the wall that was covered by a piece of cloth.

He stopped in front of the cloth and took a deep breath before lighting up the candles and took the cloth off to reveal an antique mirror behind it.

"Well, well, well, isn't this a surprise." Suddenly the mirror was lit up and an image of a beautiful woman appeared.

She looked like an ethereal being with lips as red as blood and her eyes and hair as black as charcoal, and she smiled and licked her lips when she saw Wei Wuxian.

"So, what do you want to do today, Mr. Prime Minister?" She smirked at him. "I can show you the delicious Crown Prince who... hmm... actually he's naked right now, and wet. Hmm... ooohhh... interesting. Want to see?"

"Maya, I need to ask you a question. A very important one." He sounded so serious that the woman stopped the teasing and tilted her head.

"You sound so ominous. What do you want?" She suddenly turned all business.

"Well, as per our contract, I want you to tell me how to get rid of the Crown Prince without anyone knowing. I don't want him to become a tyrant and make our people suffer. It's better if Lan Yuan is the one who becomes the King. He would be a benevolent one, unlike Lan Wangji."

"Easy peasy. Send an assassin to get rid of him while he's on the way back. No one will suspect anything because he has a lot of enemies."

Wei Wuxian almost slapped his own face for not thinking about this solution. But... was this the best solution? The Crown Prince was known as the Grim Reaper in the battlefield, and he would not be easy to kill.

"I knew an organization that specializes in high profile assassination. You want a reference? I used to use them back in the day, you know." She smirked. "And I must say, I'm very satisfied with their work."

It took an extra minute for Wei Wuxian to consider the offer, but he thought that it could be a good chance to get rid of Lan Wangji - for the sake of the Kingdom and its people. So, he decided then.

"Fine. Tell me a way to contact them."
