The newlyweds, along with their families, headed to Sanskar’s home. The house was adorned with flowers and lights, symbolizing the joyous occasion and the start of a new chapter.

As they approached the entrance, Sujata, Sanskar’s mother, stood waiting with a traditional thali for the grih pravesh ceremony. Her eyes shone with pride and happiness as she prepared to welcome her son and daughter-in-law into their home. Swara, walking beside Sanskar, felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. She was about to step into her new home and her new life as Sanskar’s wife. Inside her, the tiny flutter of their unborn baby reminded her of the new beginnings they were embracing as a family.

Sujata began the grih pravesh ritual by performing the Arti. The sacred lamp’s flame flickered gently in the breeze, casting a warm glow on Swara and Sanskar’s faces. Sujata circled the Arti thali around them, invoking blessings for their health, happiness, and prosperity. Swara could feel the love and warmth emanating from Sujata, making her feel welcomed and cherished.

“Welcome home, Swara. May your presence bring joy and prosperity to our family,” Sujata said, her voice filled with genuine affection. She then looked at Sanskar, her eyes moist with emotion. “And Sanskar, my dear son, I am so happy for you. May you both always be blessed.”

After the Arti, Sujata held out a small bowl of rice at the entrance. “Swara, dear, gently kick the rice bowl as you enter. This symbolizes abundance and the prosperity you bring into our home.” Swara, following the tradition, lightly kicked the bowl, sending the grains of rice scattering. It was a moment that symbolized her acceptance and entry into the new family.

Next, Sujata placed a plate of vermillion water at Swara’s feet. “Now, step into this plate and walk into the house, leaving your footprints. This is a sign that you are the goddess of our home, bringing with you all the divine qualities and blessings.” Swara delicately stepped into the plate, and then walked into the house, her red footprints marking her path. It was a beautiful tradition that made Swara feel honored and loved.

Sanskar watched all this with a sense of awe and gratitude. He gently held Swara’s hand, squeezing it reassuringly. “Welcome home, my princess,” he whispered, his voice filled with love and promise.

Swara smiled, her eyes glistening with happy tears. She felt a deep sense of belonging, surrounded by Sanskar’s family who had warmly embraced her. She placed a hand on her belly, feeling a flutter of excitement. This was not just the beginning of her journey with Sanskar but also the beginning of their family. Their baby, nestled in her womb, would soon be a part of all these traditions and celebrations.

As they stepped further into the house, Sujata guided them to a beautifully decorated area where the family had gathered. Everyone showered the couple with flower petals, their blessings and good wishes filling the room. It was a moment of pure joy and celebration.

Swara and Sanskar sat down for the final part of the grih pravesh ceremony, where they were to be introduced formally to the deities of the household. Sujata brought out a small idol of Lord Ganesha, and they offered prayers together, seeking blessings for their new life. The sound of the temple bells, the fragrance of incense, and the sight of their joined hands in prayer created an atmosphere of divine blessing and serenity.

Finally, as the ceremony concluded, Sujata embraced Swara warmly. “Welcome to the family, my daughter. This is your home now.”

Swara hugged her back, feeling the warmth and love of a new family that already felt like her own. As she looked around the house, now her home, she felt a deep sense of happiness and contentment. This was the beginning of a beautiful journey, and she was ready to embrace it with all her heart.
