"Why are we to be separated?"

It was one thing to marry for love, to look forward to the upcoming nuptials with nothing but excitement and joy, and to spend the rest of one's life with their lover. However, it was another thing to marry to keep the father's good name from going under. When all a lady was good for was to make sure that the ring on her finger was not a promise to everlasting love, but a sure sign that an heir was on its way any time soon and the father could finally rest in peace. Our young heroine had the burden of carrying the latter.

Lady Thomasine Beckinsale was quickly growing to detest the concept of marriage and she had yet to debut in front of the queen. She was a poet of a girl, with love stored between the pages of her writings, the very heart that walks outward from her body. She yearned for a true love's match, but with the flaming dragon's breath that berated the back of her neck and only grew hotter by the second, she feared she would have to eventually settle for a man who would only see her as some thing rather than someone whole. Then, Eloise Bridgerton appeared before her after her introduction had gone awry due to an interruption, quick to leave as though she were relieved to be out of the Queen's sight and her metaphorical clutches.

Soon would come the love and friendship and solace Thomasine searched for and wrote about, someone to tell her that there was much more to life than marriage and settlement and child bearing. It was truly all she could ask for, only for it to then spur into something more than Thomasine could carry.

AUTHOR'S NOTE 042824
→ bridgerton fic #2 down the hatch woo ! working through some strong comphet with this one but we have eloise to build a strong friendship and bond with <33

→     we'll start in season 2, with both eloise and thomasine coming into society and i'm gonna go out of my way and say mow thomasine is gonna be a bit of a bitch for a minute but only bc she's currently miserable as she's only seen as a means to an end

→     i may not own bridgerton or its characters but i do own lady thomasine and any other characters not found in canon and any plots that aren't recognizable from the show. if i find anything to be plagiarized, a strongly worded dm will be sent your way. consider this your first warning, i'd hate for thomasine to be stolen and mischaracterized to hell lmao
