Lost again! Well you didn't frequent this part of town too much, so you shouldn't bash yourself too much for it. Besides, it'd be good to explore new things.

But as you walked along the streets, a wave of sadness hit you like a truck, almost making you lose your balance. Normally you'd try to ignore things like this, usually people would rather sort things out for themselves, but this was different.

This sadness, this grief, there was too much of it for one person.

You closed your eyes and took a deep breath, focusing on trying to pinpoint the source of the sadness. Amongst the blues of the grief, there was a tinge of something else, the loss of innocence.

A child?

Following the emotion trail, you walked along the street until you made it underneath a stone bridge, the damp air making you scrunch your nose.

'They should be here...'
You thought to yourself as you looked around.

That's when you saw it, the child! He had a grave expression in his eyes as he focused on you, his body tensing up.

"Hello? Little one, would you like some help?"
Walking towards him was like trying to swim against the current of a raging river.

You pulled your phone out to turn the flashlight on, and stifled a gasp when you saw the child's condition. His light hair was matted with dirt, his skin dried and cracking.

"Little one, are you alright?"

He shook his head ever so slighlty.

"Give me your hand, I can help you,"

That seemed to set him off, he scrambled away from you, yelling,
"Don't touch me!"

This wouldn't be easy.

To try and understand him better, you stopped pushing against his emotions, letting yourself soak in his sadness. Brief flashes of his life flowed through your mind, all of the abuse, and then...

What you saw made your heart drop to your stomach, and you had to hold yourself back from vomiting. Such a volatile quirk for such a small boy...

"Tenko... Tenko? I know you're worried about me, but we'll be fine, I swear,"

How the hell did you know his name?! But oh how he wished what you said was true.

Managing to get right in front of him, you pulled out two small pink gloves, the pointer and middle fingers being fingerless. They were originally for one of your students, but she probably wouldn't mind if they went to someone else in need.

"Put these on, they should prevent your quirk from doing much,"

He rushed to put them on, testing it out on a flower near him. With the flower still intact, he looked at you with wide eyes.

How did you know that would work? How did you know about his quirk? Who were you?

"Tenko, you can call me Mr. (Y/n). I have a place for you to stay, if you'd like,"

He thought about it for a moment, not sure whether it'd be worth it. The one thing he wanted right now was a home, but what if he destroyed it again? He couldn't go through that. But he also couldn't let himself die out here either.

He nodded his head, and you extended a hand towards him.

He hesitantly held onto it, glad that the gloves prevented him from accidentally killing you. Oh how long it'd been since he held hands with someone.

After a long and silent walk, Tenko found himself looking at a... school? It wasn't as big as some of the ones he'd seen, but it wasn't too small either.

"I run a school for troubled children. But I think troubled is just another word for special,"
You smiled as you led him inside, taking him upstairs into a small bedroom.

"This can be your room, that is if you decide to stay here,"
You proposed.

The boy hopped up on the bed, enjoying how much softer it was than concrete. You got to work trying to clean him up as best as you could, washing his face with a damp cloth and trimming some of his hair.

The child still hadn't said too much, but that was understandable.

"If there's anything you need, let me know, alright?"

He looked around for a moment before whispering something you barely understood.

"Of course I'll give you a hug,"

The little boy wrapped his arms around you, and as you did the same to you, he let out a sob. He missed his mother, his sister, his dog, even his father. Why did he have to ruin everything?!

Sensing more grief within the child, you used your quirk to let some of the love in your heart out into the world around you, calming the boy down as it made its way into his system. Something about you was just so... comforting.

Maybe he'd stay with you. After all, it wasn't like he had anywhere else to go.
