(Part 2)

In the hushed corridor, shadows clung to the walls, their tendrils reaching out like memories. Each step she took echoed, a solemn rhythm that matched the weight on her shoulders. As a clandestine judge, she bore witness to battles fought in the veiled recesses of existence. Sacrifices made, secrets whispered, and destinies entwined in the darkness. These were the hidden threads that wove through the mundane tapestry of our lives, safeguarding the fragile balance between light and shadow.

The sentencing had been swift, the verdict delivered with a finality that left no room for appeal. Helena exhaled deeply, relieved that this chapter was over. The accused had faced their fate, and justice had been served. But justice was a double-edged sword, and its blade cut both ways. Now, all that remained was to submit her report to the higher-ups, those enigmatic figures who watched from the shadows, pulling the strings of fate.

Her auburn hair, usually bound in a severe bun, now flowed freely around her shoulders. The wavy strands brushed against her face, a soft touch against her skin. Helena had always been meticulous, precise in her duties, but today, something shifted within her. The air crackled with anticipation, and she knew that this was not the end. It was merely a pause, a breath held before the storm.

"This will not be our final encounter, child," the voice echoed in her mind.

He had not finished the sentence, but Helena understood. The Vessel, the key to it all and it was out there, and the Mosaic Crown, an artifact of unimaginable power, hung in the balance. That man who had uttered those words was no ordinary adversary. He was a force of nature, a tempest waiting to break upon their fragile world.

"His followers," Helena whispered, her curiosity mingling with concern. "He planned this all along?"

The pieces of the puzzle fell into place. The cryptic messages, the ancient myths. The Mosaic Crown was awakening, and its dormant force threatened to unravel everything they held dear.

As if summoned by her thoughts, a familiar voice cut through the silence.

"Hello, Judge Rossi," pulling Helena from her reverie.

She turned to find Titania Okami-Jurai, her closest friend, standing there. Titania was no ordinary woman. Her bronze skin glowed with an otherworldly radiance, and her long, silky black hair cascaded freely down her back. Today, she was not clad in battle suite or Valkyrie armor. Instead, she wore civilian clothes, a sign of departure.

"You're really leaving?" Helena's question hung in the air.

Titania nodded solemnly, her brown eyes fixed on the gold bracelet encircling her wrist. The bracelet held her Valkyrie armor, the armor of a Valkyrie sworn to protect both worlds. But recent events had shaken her resolve.

The Maiden's ordeal, the danger to her own family, it was too close to home.

"How is the Maiden?" Helena asked, her concern genuine. The Maidens were conduits of power, their abilities crucial in the eternal struggle against evil.

Titania's answer was measured, "She has been given a potion to seal away her memories. But it's a shame he took advantage of someone so young."

And then, the Mosaic Crown, the enigma that haunted her mind.

"Don't worry," Titania reassured her. "It remains dormant. We've barely scratched the surface of its capabilities. The sacrifices of the chosen Maidens have revealed glimpses of its true nature and were able to find out about the Ture Vessel and the Fayth. The True Vessel is the key to it all, the Maidens are just pawns."

Helena knew the stakes. If the Crown awakened in a maiden, their body wouldn't be able to hold the power for long, the maiden would perish, releasing the power of the Crown, destroying everything.

She couldn't bear another innocent death on her conscience.

"This is not your fault," Titania interrupted her thoughts. "We thought we could control a force beyond our understanding. We were wrong to think we are in control."

And now, Titania was leaving for the Mundane World, where supernatural activity simmered beneath the surface. She handed Helena an envelope, containing their location.

The Maiden and her family would accompany them. The Valkyrie's departure was bittersweet, knowing how great she was against evil forces.

"Better than dying on the battlefield," Helena quipped, a faint laugh escaping her lips.

"They still have a Grand Judge," Titania reminded her about herself. "A powerful one."

With a sisterly hug, she turned and walked away, disappearing into another corridor. Helena watched her go, knowing it might be years before they met again.

"My time as a judge is over," Helena murmured, clutching the report.

The halls whispered secrets, but she needed more. She needed answers, allies, and a new purpose. The Mosaic Crown loomed, and there was a storm approaching.  At that moment she made her decision, this would be her last report. Her footsteps echoed as she walked away, leaving behind the life she knew. Destiny awaited, and Helena would face it head-on, even if it meant.
