Chapter 1
Kris's POV
"But, mom." I whined. "This is my fifth school in the past two years, so why do I even bother trying?" Today was my first day a St. Mary's and it was already the second semester of my Sophomore year and I didn't want to go. I know I sound like a child but I only stayed at my last school for a month and a half before moving here. That was in California and now I'm in Ireland. Fucking Ireland, where I know absolutely nobody. Yay for me.
"Kristina, we aren't moving again so please, just try to make a friend." My mom told me as she gathered her stuff together and poured her coffee.
"Right. That's what you said last time and look where we are now." I sighed and played with my spoon in my cereal. My mom muttered a good-bye and kissed my head. She means well, but after dad died she had to support us and that meant moving due to her jobs. I dropped my spoon and bowl into the sink and walked towards my bedroom. Making sure to choose my clothes carefully, I grabbed some clothes out from my closet. I went with a simple blue plaid shirt and some severely ripped jeans. My contacts were still in from last night and my lucky infinity necklace was still draped around my neck. When I was done with my make-up I put on my grey shoes and grabbed my iPhone of the counter. It was only seven fifteen and my bus came at seven thirty, so I flipped on the T.V. and tried to find Sponge-Bob but I ended up settling for The Simpsons.
I heard the bus pull up outside my house. After flipping off the lights and grabbing my backpack, I ran outside. The bus was not like a normal bus. It was short and white with blue letters that said 'St. Mary's School for the Gifted'. So I would be riding a bus that all but shouted 'Look at the nerds'. Yay.
"Hello, love." said the kind looking bus driver. "You must be Kristina, I'm Paul." he held out his hand for me to shake. I took it and shook it.
"Just call me Kris, please." I told him with a small smile.
"Okay, then Kris, pick any seat you want love." I turned away from him suddenly realizing that nearly all the seats were full. I chose a seat next to a curly haired boy. He looked over at me and smirked.
"Hey, baby." He tried reaching for my hand but I yanked it away from him. "Don't be like that babe. My name's Harry." His hand slid up my leg and played with the string from the tears.
"Here, lemme help you with that." I said and reached over and smacked his hand away from me. "Keep your hands off of me, Harry." He rolled his eyes and took his phone out and started texting someone. He must be the popular boy who gets any girl he wants. (A/N: I know Harry isn't really like this so don't get mad please). Harry glanced over at me.
"Listen, I'm sorry.... I never caught your name." He told me.
"Well, that's probably because I never told you it." I said smartly. He looked down and his cheeks turned a light shade of crimson. "It's Kris. My name is Kris." I sighed, finally giving in. Harry looked up at me and smiled. Hmm, he has dimples.
"Kris? Like a boys' name?"
"No, Kris like short for Kristina." I told Harry. He just nodded his head and then turned back to his phone. After another ten minutes on the bus, we pulled up to large, brick school. I stood up and walked out of the bus, saying good-bye to Paul. Harry got off the bus and headed over towards me.
"Here Kris, I'll help you find where you need to go." He reached over my shoulder and grabbed my schedule out of my hands. "Well, Mrs.Loke is in Building C which is right over there," he pointed to a building all the way on the other side of the campus. "Oh and your locker is near mine so I'll show you were that is." He gestured for me to follow him and we walked into the closest building near us. We walked down two hallways and then he stopped in front of Locker 290A. "This is your locker and this one is mine." He pointed to a locker about six feet away from me that said 300A. Harry told me to meet him here after first period was done because we had second period together and he was going to show me how to get there.
"Thanks Harry." I called back to him as I walked towards Building C. "I'll see ya later." The hallways were nearly empty as I walked towards Mrs.Lokes' Geometry room. Math was definitely not my subject. I had failed last semester but the principal here didn't make me retake it. I heard the bell ring and I swore under my breath. I started jogging towards Mrs.Lokes' room. When I got there, I fixed my hair and straitened my clothes then, I opened the door, slipped in, and stood by the door.
"Ahh, our new student decides to finally arrive." A tall, mean looking lady stated blankly. She narrowed her eyes at me. "Please explain to me Miss..." Mrs.Loke looked down at a paper. "Miss Kristina why you are late."
"Well," I started talking as I walked towards an empty seat at the back of the room. "You see my unicorn would not wake-up this morning so I was forced to take my sloth, which as you can guess is just awful, and when I got here the evil witch was waiting for me and she took my pancake so I had to chase after her and when I got it, it was so close to the bell and then I realized that my locker was on the other side of the flipping school and then I had to run all the way over here and believe me, I ain't no runner, so that, Mrs.Loke is why I'm late." I finished with a smile and a few people in the class started laughing.
"Quite an intriguing story Miss Bellmont," Mrs.Loke looked like her head was about to explode. "Perhaps you would like to retell the whole story to the principal." She handed me a small pink pass. "Go" I rolled my eyes and grabbed my bag off the floor, flipping her off on my way out the door. I really hope not all teachers in this school are like that.
