"Kia, wait up!" Junior yelled. He didn't like the idea of going into a forest, especially in the middle of the damn night! He told Kia how bad her idea is, but of course she didn't listen.

"Kia! Come back here!"

Now, if it were any other day (or night), Junior wouldn't call for Kia. He'd probably tell her 'good luck, have fun surviving' and continue on reading his favorite book.

But tonight isn't any other night or day. Tonight is October 31st. The night where ghosts, zombies, and whatever people say appear. Junior doesn't believe in the supernatural, but still. Better safe than sorry. Besides, he feels kind of responsible for Kia.

"Ki-AH WHAT THE-" he screamed. Something was touching his legs. Something was crawling on his arms. Junior has never felt more horrified in his life than in this moment.

"Hey June!" Kia chirped.

Junior screamed again.

After a good few seconds of screaming, Junior looked up at Kia sitting on a tree branch.

"You good?" Kia asked.

Junior was stunned. 'You good'? 'You good' ???  Junior had to go to the middle of the forest in the middle of the night because Kia had to go and run off. Then she had to go and give him a heart attack by speaking up out of nowhere! Not to mention, there was still something crawling on his body!

"What do you think?!"

"I don't know," Kia mockingly looked him over. "You look fine to me."

"Ugh..." Junior grabbed Kia's arm and tried to pull her down. Keyword being tried. Kia wouldn't budge.

"Let's just go. C'mon." Junior was so close to whining. He does not want to spend a second longer in this damn forest. When they get back home, he was going to take the longest shower.

Kia jumped off the tree branch, "Sorry, June, but no can do." She bent over and picked a black thing off of Junior's legs and- oh. It's a spider. A spider crawled on him. Ew. He really needs that shower.

Junior had to keep himself from twitching. Instead, he grabbed Kia's other arm and started dragging her. Kia purposefully dropped her body to be dead weight, which led to Junior struggling more than he would have.

"Kia, get up!" Junior huffed. This was tiring. He just wants to have a nice shower, read, and maybe sleep. Is that too much to ask?

In response to Junior, Kia made herself heavier. "I don't want to, June. You're gonna have to keep dragging me like this."

Junior has had enough. Abruptly, he dropped Kia on the ground. He stared at her and said, "Fine then. If this is how it is, I'll just leave you. Have fun doing this by yourself. I can't believe I followed you here..." The last part was muttered, but Kia heard it all the same.

He started walking away, back in the direction he came from (at least he thinks so). Kia stared at him, dumbfounded, before speaking up.

"Hey, June! June, wait! Junior! Buddy! Come back here! You can't leave without me!"

"Yes. I can."  Junior snarled. He continued stomping away.

"No, seriously, you can't. June, listen to me."

Junior covered his ears, and tried his best to ignore what Kia was saying. He kept on marching forward when,

"'Sup!"

Kia? But, she was- how- she couldn't possibly be here. Junior looked back at the direction he was walking away from. Kia was supposed to be there.

"This is what I was telling you about! You can't leave." The stranger (that cannot be Kia) said. She looked at him with guilt in her eyes, overshadowed by determination.

Nope. Nuh-uh. No. Not tonight. Junior is not gonna stay here. He started walking forward again, away from that thing that looked like Kia.

He kept on going until he saw Kia again. Which, what? Junior is starting to freak out now. He can feel his heart thumping in his chest.

"Bud! Don't panic! It's me, Kia! Look, I'm going to explain this to- are you really walking away again? Junior? How many times-"

But Junior was already out of hearing range. Kia sighed. She sat down under a tree, waiting for him to come back again.

When Junior came back, looking even more terrified than before, Kia stood up and approached him immediately.

"Look!" She pulled up her sleeve, showing a small star tattoo she got for her 17th birthday. Except it was glowing a bright blue color.

This did not make Junior any calmer. Tattoos don't glow!!!

"Before you walk away again," Kia started saying a code they made up when they were, like, eleven. Junior really loves literature stuff, so Kia decided to get a bunch of quotes and just jumble the words. "I see a light star, bright light..."

Junior looked at her in surprise, before continuing, "...Take it, I might."

"My little birthright, tonight." They said at the same time.

Junior stared at her, and Kia gave a reassuring smile (or at least she hoped it was a reassuring smile).

"So, okay, you are Kia. And not some imposter, murderer, or something."

Junior sighed and leveled her with another one of his stares, "Care to explain?"

Kia simply grinned. This was gonna take a while.
