only this chapter will be in 3rd person.

Alarick Hayes, Kingdom of Eclipsara, Age 12

"Ahhh! it hurts so much!"  The boy cried out in pain.

The two guards that were positioned outside of the boy's doors came barreling inside. There layed Prince Alarick, the heir to the Eclipsara throne. His small body covered in a light blue blanket, his toy shark sat next to him, while his face contorted in pain. Tears covered the boy's cheeks as he trembled in his bed.

The young man's screams of pain caused waves of fear to escape the guards. He was the only male child of the Hayes family, therefore he was the only heir to the throne.

"Go! Quickly! Alert His Highness!"  The older one of the two yelled out. As the other guard ran towards the King's office in a panicked manner.

The King was very protective of his family. Some people would say that the will to protect is in the Hayes blood, but even if the blood that flows through his veins could change, the love he shares for his family wouldn't ever deter.

The guard arrived in front of the King's office inhaling deep breaths of anxiety and exhaustion before he hurriedly began knocking.

"State your name and business" The King called out with an icy tone. King Azurith was known for his tactical in-war attacks, with which he led his kingdom to win the title of the 5th largest kingdom in the whole world. He knew not to show any mercy to his enemies and traitors, while also teaching the traitors their lessons with personally torturing them.

"Your Highness, I am Earl Newsletter, one of the guards in charge of keeping stationary inn front of Prince Alarick's quarters tonight. Something is wrong with Prince Alarick!" The guard let all of it out in one breath.

The King ran to the large office doors, and with evident worry across his face, he ran past the guard toward the left wing where his son's quarters were located.

His ears filled with the sound of his son's pained cries with which his worry only heightened. Walking inside of his son's room the pale face of the boy laying in front of him caused the King's legs to go weak.

"Alarick, my boy. What's wrong?" He asked, distraught. Alarick, now covered in sweat and tears let out a strangled sob before he finally got the power to turn over on his stomach.

"Father, it hurts so bad" he let out another agonizing scream. "I was sleeping and then my back started hurting." He let out in between sobs.

The King acted immediately by taking his son into his arms. He was cradled to his father's chest careful not to touch his back. He took out his phone and started making calls to have a doctor come in.

------

The doctor instructed the King to lay the prince with his stomach on the hospital bed, before he reached for the back of his pajama top. The pain has lessened, it wasn't as bad as it was 20 minutes ago, but the prince was still trembling in pain.

His mom, the Queen was now in the room with them. She sat hunched over on the chair on the side of the boy's bed with her head in her hands. She couldn't conceal the tears of worry streaming down her face.

The doctor carefully took off his shirt to reveal long white scars trailing down the boy's back. The doctor's eyes widened before he turned to the King. "This seems rather peculiar. Were these scars here before?" The doctor asked, before the King shook his head.

His mother looked up before gasping in horror at the scars littering her little boy's body.

------

After a few days of undergoing obligatory medical exams, the doctor sat in the King's office with his head turned down in a sign of respect.

"Your Highness, with all of the examining we did to young Alarick, we have finally gotten to a conclusion as to why he had pain on his back a few nights ago."

He looked up.

"I'm sure you are aware that there are many people that are experiencing soulmate bonds. Some get the ability to telepathically communicate with their soulmates, others get the ability to feel the feelings their soulmate feels, there are even cases where people reported seeing through their soulmate's eyes." He let out a breath

"Your son has the ability to sense his soulmate's pain as his own."
