Twilight and I part in the hall in front of our separate apartments. It made no sense for me, an apparent high school student to be living alone, but as far as everyone knew I was just studying abroad. I had made the place quite cozy, decorated with pink fuzzy rugs and fluffy white furniture. It was sort of a home despite the fact I spent most of my time at the Forger residence. I found a strange solace there. It may be because I have such a strong family connection to Twilight, but then again being around Yor, Anya, and Bond made me feel all warm and cozy inside. It was a feeling I hadn't felt since the last time I had seen my family. I know where my brother is, he too is in Berlint. Maybe one day, when STRIX is done and over I'd go visit him. My parents were a different story, we had been separated one day a few years back.
Bombs had been dropped on my home city. The last time I ever saw my parents was the day Twilight recruited me into WISE. None of us took into consideration that when I left for groceries that afternoon we'd never meet again. Despite the Ostanian bombing we never thought that our small town could be a target. We thought we were safe. The Handler has been trying to help me locate them, but it seems as though they're dead or MIA.
I plop myself onto the couch upon arrival to my house, immediately covering myself in a blanket. I let out a huge yawn as I reach for the television remote. I flick it on, the first thing that appears is the new episode of Bondman that came out. My mind shifts to Anya, I imagine her in the house across the hall parked in front of the television with Bond, eyes glued to the screen. Yor on the couch with a glass of wine and Twilight cooking them dinner. I sigh, realizing how lonely I truly am.
I sigh, giving in to my nagging mind. I flip off the television and enter my room. I change out of my day clothing and into a shirt from Demetrius and a pair of shorts. The shirt had a graphic of a small cat that was strangely banana shaped. I have no clue what possessed him to buy it, but I will admit, it's cute. I slip on a pair of slippers and trudge across the hall to Twilight's house.
I knock on their front door, a slightly tipsy Yor opening it.
"Vivienne! Good to see you, come on in!" Yor beamed. I smile back. Just as I had suspected, the Forgers were just sitting down for dinner. What I failed to notice as I followed Yor inside was at my usual seat sat a plate of food. Twilight looked up from his food to see me, he smiled slightly.
"Oh, Viv, I expected you so I made you some food." He said as I took a seat besides Anya. She was thrilled to see me.
"Thank you Loid." I bowed my head slightly, a sign of respect. I really appreciated everything Twilight did for me. I guess I've gotten so predictable that he just knows when I'm coming over for dinner.
"No problem, enjoy." He said, raising his fork full of food. I smiled as I picked up my own fork and take a bite. The food was warm and comforting, exactly what I needed after a mission.
The exhaustion hit me like an enemy bullet. I never truly realized how exhausting my job is, but when it hits it hits hard. I exhale hard and long, letting out all my fatigue as I shovel more food in my mouth.
After dinner, I'm sat on the couch with Yor and Twilight. Anya was on the floor with Bond, trying her hardest not to conk out on the living room floor. Yor had made me a hot chocolate, and it was absolutely perfect. Everything about this house and the people in it make me feel so at home and at peace. I shouldn't be, but I really feel loved.
