Chapter one: the blacksmith
Once upon a time a young girl with long raven black hair and black eyes. Was looking at the forge of the blacksmith. Her father had taken her there, and he was looking for a new sword to protect the town with as a member of the town guard.
In curiosity, she asked, "Do you only make swords here mister blacksmith?"
As her dad was looking around. He smiled at his daughter a little amused. The blacksmith looked up from his forge. Looking at the girl for a minute.
Then he asked, "Are you interested in blacksmithing little one? And no I don't only make swords. I also make shields and armor. And well you know I also am the one making anything metal in town why don't you find everything made of metal? And you will know everything I make."
The girl blinked spying an interesting arch-like thing on the wall she thought the shape was pretty. She looked at the blacksmith and asked, "What about those arch things?"
The blacksmith looked where she pointed stroking his beard in contemplation. Before responding, "Do you mean the horseshoes those are for the hooves of animals but don't worry it does hurt them. Think of it like sturdy nail polish mixed with steel-toed boots."
Intrigued the girl was about to ask another question. When his dad placed everything he wanted on the counter. He said, "We are almost done here, Rosa. How much for this sword and do you take specialty orders for armor and the like?"
The blacksmith looked at the man and then the little girl. he said, "I do indeed to specialty orders. If you're alright with it. I would love to make your daughter my apprentice alongside my son. It wouldn't be too much trouble. She might try sneaking her anyway. You know how kids are when they are curious."
The father looked at his daughter then at the man and said, "Only if you can promise her safety. He then says how much for that peace of armor?"
The blacksmith said, "She would be perfectly safe as she learns why. And it is 20 gold." As he raises an eyebrow.
The father used the new sword and cut the armor in half saying, "I need armor stronger than this. But I will pay for the damage I just caused you and buy this one."
The blacksmith smiling with the young girl's mouth agape said, "Well. It's nice to know you love your daughter. I get it I will make sure she is perfectly safe. If she gets burnt on the forge a single time I will treat the wound and send her back home and she will have to settle for watching when you come for things from me."
The blacksmith holds out his hand. and the father shacks it with a satisfied smile on his face. finishing testing the man who had passed the father's test. A joy-filled smile played across his lips. He said, "You can come here to learn blacksmithing as much as you want Rosa. I love you."
Rosa said, "Dad sometimes you're too much. What if that had scared him off?"
The blacksmith chuckled. The dad blinked and said a little panicked but keeping his cool, "I'm sorry sweetie. I need to check what his true intentions were. I just didn't want you getting hurt."
Rosa said, "I will only forgive you if you promise not to make me leave if I get hurt. Getting hurt is a part of growing up."
The dad said, "I'm sorry honey. Ok, I promise but on one condition. And that condition is. you tell me everything you learn while coming here. I'm also interested in blacksmithing but am too busy with work to learn it myself. I also want you to tell me any wounds you end up getting physical and emotional. While being here. It will help. I only need a full report for the first 3 months. After that just tell me what you like. For a year. Then you can choose what you tell me or you needn't say anything at all. When you are at an age that is fine for travel you can visit as many blacksmiths as you want ok? Just be safe."
