The Set Up.

Wake Up.

*time skip 7 months later*

YEJI's POV

It's been 7 months since the accident. Yejin has grown so much, and I have taken videos and pictures so when Ryujin wakes up she doesn't feel bad for missing all her milestones.

Yejin and I visit her everyday after work. Ryujin started to breathe on her own so they took her off the ventilator meaning her brain functions might be going back to normal. Maybe soon she'll wake up.

I watch the snow fall down outside her window.

Maybe she'll wake up just in time for Christmas. Only 5 more weeks till then,  oh what a beautiful gift that would be.

Yejin is starting to mumble words, and I'm not worried Ryujin will be missing more of her growth. I look over to Yejin who is on the bed with Ryujin playing with some of her toys.

Yejin then climbs next to Ryujin. "Mommy... read?" She looks up to me and points at the book I am holding.

Yejin and I have made it a habit to read to her every night before we head home.

"I know honey. We'll read to Momma" I say with a smile on my face.

I brush Ryujin's hair to the side and whisper in her ear. "Hi Baby, we're here. Please wake up soon so we can do this at home together. I miss you." I kiss her cheeks.

I lay next on the opposite side of Yejin. "Ready Yejin?" I look over her to her cuddling her momma.

I know you'll wake up for us baby.

I begin to read the story Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown.

Yejin and I have read this book every night at this point I have memorized every word.

"Goodnight Stars. Goodnight air. Goodnight noises everywhere..." I look over to Yejin and just like always. She has fallen asleep cuddled on the side of her momma. I take a picture of the two. I let her sleep next to her for a little bit.

I sit next to them both, and hold on to Ryujin's hand.

"Ryujin I miss you so much. I miss your kisses. I miss waking up to you every morning. Please wake up. Please." I put her hand against my cheek and look at her. "would do anything to hear your voice again"

Soon I get into the bed with them and set an alarm so that I could wake up and bring Yejin home.

I cuddle up next to her putting her arm around me, and hold her hand. I play with her hand a little when I notice her finger move. I shot up out of bed.

I lay her hand out so I know I'm not seeing things. Her finger twitches again.

I put my hand the side of her face. "Baby if you can hear me please move your finger again"

I wait for a good minute or two. There it was she moved her whole hand. I jumped in excitement.

Shortly after I pressed the button, her eyes looked as though she was trying to open them. I felt a tear fall from my eye.

I grabbed her hand again and kissed it. "Please Ryujin. Wake up for me baby" i said as I hear the doctor walk in. He saw my face and instantly knew.

I gently grabbed sleeping Yejin and carried her while the doctor checked her vitals. He gave me a reassuring look, and I began to text the girls.
