Nandini's POV

As we reached home, I went straight to my room. He is getting on my nerves day by day. What does he think of himself? He can't just order me around all the time! I can do whatever I want. He has no right to stop me.

I know I was being ridiculous for kissing that guy, but I wasn't in my senses. I don't know what happened to me all of a sudden. I was lost in my thoughts when I was interrupted by some unpleasant sounds. Startled, I got up and left the room. As I stepped outside, my eyes widened in shock. There was a man downstairs, wearing a black mask covering his face. My heart pounded. He wasn't Emir!

Before I could scream, someone grabbed me from behind and dragged me back into the room.

He threw me onto the bed and shut the door. There were two of them. One of them covered my mouth with a cloth and tied my hands. I struggled to break free, but the ropes were too tight.

"Who is she? She'll ruin our plan. Boss never told us about her. What should we do now?" one of them asked.

"Let me call the boss." The other man took out his phone while the first one paced around, occasionally peeking outside. "Yes, boss. Manik is not alone. There's a girl in his house... Okay, we're waiting." He cut the call.

"What did he say?"

"He's coming upstairs."

A while later, a man entered the room. He was young, and his face wasn't covered.

"So, Manik is in a secret relationship? Well, that's interesting."

"Sir, what should we do now?"

"You go and check what those guys are doing. See if you can find anything against Manik, and call me. Meanwhile, I'll have some fun with this beauty."

My eyes widened in horror.

"And what should I do?" the other guy asked.

"You stay with me."

The man moved closer while I fought against my restraints. He started unbuckling his belt. I struggled to make noise, but I was sure my cries wouldn't go beyond the room.

"Let's see how beautiful you are in bed."

I shut my eyes tightly, terrified. I wished I could kick him-wait! My legs weren't tied. As he leaned closer, I kicked him hard between his legs. He cried out in pain.

"You bitch!" he snarled, grabbing my hair in a tight grip.

"Leave her!"

I heard Emir's voice.

He stood at the doorway, pointing a gun at the bastard.

The other intruder was already caught by one of the guards. The man released me, and Emir landed a powerful punch on his face. The guard restrained him while Emir rushed to untie me.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

"Yes."

"You shouldn't have touched her," Emir said coldly.

I was sure this man's death was near. He was finished.

Emir grabbed his collar and dragged him out of the room. Then, I remembered my phone! I rushed to the secret spot, retrieved it, and quietly stepped outside.

The guards had their guns pointed at all of them-ten men in total. Emir and the bastard stood in the middle, the latter's face covered in blood. I discreetly moved back and started recording.

"So, did you get what you wanted?" Emir asked.

"You can't kill me, Manik."

Wait. Should I call him Emir or Manik?

"And why do you think I can't?"

"Because I know who killed your mother."

I wasn't surprised. He had killed so many people; of course, karma would come back for him.

"Sss, Harshad, Harshad, Harshad... How do you always surprise me? I mean, how? You think I'm slow enough to wait for you to tell me who killed my mother? Seriously? I already killed the murderer a long time ago."

"You're lying!"

"Unfortunately, no. And now it's your turn to die."

"Manik, no! Don't! I swear I'll leave and never come back. Just don't kill me!"

"Really? And what makes you think I'll believe you?"

"I swear... I swear on my family!"

"It's too late to regret, Harshad." He pointed the gun at his heart. "Any last wish?"

"Manik, please don't do this!"

"No wish? Okay, fine. Then die."

Bang.

Harshad collapsed onto the floor. I turned away and rushed to the bathroom, locking the door behind me. I checked the video. His face was clear. It was well recorded.

"Nandini."

Oh, shit. He's outside.

I quickly hid the phone in one of the drawers and stepped out.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

"Yes, I'm fine."

Suddenly, he pulled me into a hug. I was shocked.

"He didn't do anything to you, right?" he asked, pulling away.

"No, Emir. I'm fine."

He sighed in relief.

"Come, let's go."

"Where?"

"To my room."

"Why? I'm fine here."

"But I'm not. Come."

"Emir, you're ordering me again!"

"So? I will. Don't argue, Nandini."

"Fine. I'll listen to you this time, but this is the last time!"

He rolled his eyes. "We'll see."

I agreed because, truthfully, I was scared.

As we sat on the bed in his room, he called Cabir.

"Did you do what I asked?"

"I don't know. I'm also confused about how he managed to enter my house when it has a password."

"Anyway, I'll change the lock and increase security."

"Yes, she's fine," he said, glancing at me.

"Okay, bye."

He hung up and rubbed his temples.

"What happened?" I asked.

"I don't know how he got in. I'm worried that someone might have helped him, or maybe he entered on his own."

"Do you think someone in this house helped him?"

"I'm not sure. Everyone here has been working for a long time, and I don't suspect anyone. But what if one of them is betraying me?"

"Whoever it is, they won't be able to hide for long. They'll slip up eventually. So relax and don't worry," I assured him.

He nodded.

"So... you're not angry at me anymore?" he asked.

"No."

He smiled and opened his arms, gesturing for me to come closer.

He was acting so nice all of a sudden. It felt weird. And I couldn't shake the feeling that he was suspicious of me.

God knows what's coming next.
