SOKOVIA
2015

"Report to your stations immediately." The booming voice on the PA system. "This is not a drill. We are under attack."

Eleven years later, the Maximoff triplets were no longer the frightened children hiding under a bed. Now 21, they were hardened by their past and fuelled by a burning resentment for Tony Stark and the Avengers. The bomb that destroyed their home and killed their parents had left an indelible mark on their hearts, one that time could not heal.

As they grew, so did their hatred. They saw Tony Stark as the architect of their suffering, his name synonymous with the Stark Industries missile that shattered their family. When Tony Stark formed the Avengers in 2012, their hatred expanded to encompass the entire organization and SHIELD, whom they viewed as enablers of Stark's destruction.

In 2013, an opportunity arose that the triplets could not ignore. HYDRA, the shadowy and malevolent counterpart to SHIELD, offered them a chance to change the world. Lured by promises of power and revenge, the Maximoff's volunteered for HYDRA's experiments, despite the organization's dark and terroristic nature. They were fed lies about how they could use their newfound abilities to take down the Avengers and reshape the world.

The experiments involved the Mind Stone, one of the six Infinity Stones, housed within Loki's sceptre, which had been recovered after the Battle of New York in 2012. Many before them had perished in the trials, but the Maximoff triplets were different. They survived, and in doing so, they were forever changed.

Pietro, the fastest of the three, gained superhuman speed. He could move at such incredible velocities that he became a blur to the naked eye, his movements like a living whirlwind.

Wanda and Milana developed similar astonishing powers of telekinesis and telepathy. They could manipulate objects and minds with a mere thought using their dark energy.

The only thing that differentiated the two was that Milana was also able to render herself wholly or partially invisible at will by turning herself ultraviolet, explaining the purple colour of her powers, compared to Wanda's deep red.

The triplets embraced their new abilities with a singular purpose: to bring down the Avengers and exact their revenge on Tony Stark. They trained tirelessly under HYDRA's guidance, their powers growing stronger and more refined with each passing day.

Despite the sinister nature of HYDRA's operations, the Maximoffs believed they were on the right path. They saw themselves as warriors of justice, blinded by the promise of retribution against those they held responsible for their suffering. The power they wielded was intoxicating, giving them the strength to fight back against the world that had wronged them.

But deep down, beneath the layers of anger and bitterness, the memories of their childhood in Sokovia lingered. The love they shared as siblings, the sacrifices their parents made, and the laughter that once filled their home—they were all shadows of a life that could have been. And while the path they had chosen was dark, it was the only one they could see, driven by the relentless need to avenge their past and carve out a future on their own terms.

"Who gave the order to attack?" Strucker, the leader of this HYDRA facility, asks one of his employees.

"Herr Strucker, it's the Avengers." He replies, seemingly out of breath. "They landed in the far woods, the perimeter guard panicked."

"They have to be after the sceptre." Strucker's assistant whispers.

Strucker's face scrunches up in annoyance. "Can we hold them?" He asks his employee.

The young man looks around in defeat. "...They're the Avengers."

"Deploy the rest of the tanks!" Strucker orders, sighing. "Concentrate fire on the weak ones. A hit may make them close ranks."
