The aroma of delicious food lured Annika out of bed the next morning. Following the enticing scent, she found Shreya bustling around the kitchen, a spatula in hand. "Good morning sleepyhead! Get yourself freshened up, breakfast will be ready soon," Shreya chirped.

Annika stretched and headed to the bathroom, a smile tugging at her lips.  Next, she gently nudged Ishita and Kavya awake, finding them curled up together in a tangled mess of limbs – a testament to their close bond that had blossomed over the past five years.

Aadhya, stirred by the morning activity, bounced into the room, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Time for school! Annika expertly braided her daughter's hair into two adorable ponytails, then helped her change into her new school uniform. Aadhya couldn't wait to show off her outfit, dashing into the living room to receive a chorus of compliments, which she lapped up with delight.

Breakfast was a lively affair, filled with chatter and laughter. Kavya, Annika, and Aadhya were the first to head out, Kavya getting dropped off at her office first. Reaching Aadhya's new school, Annika could barely contain her daughter's excitement. "Be a good girl, sweetheart," Annika reminded her. "Make lots of new friends, and don't be a nuisance, okay?"

Aadhya grinned. "Okay, Momma!" She planted a kiss on Annika's cheek and then darted towards the school gate, a teacher guiding her to her new classroom. With a final wave goodbye, Annika watched Aadhya disappear into the school building, a wave of emotion washing over her. From there, it was straight to Shivay's office, where Annika made a beeline for her designated work area.

Annika settled into her workspace, a familiar sense of purpose washing over her. The compact room, reminiscent of her first small office of RIA, instantly brought her back into the work zone.

Meanwhile, Shivay's arrival at the office was met with a surprise. He learned that Annika had already beaten him there. Curiosity gnawed at him, wondering what she was up to in her new space. Unable to resist, he reached for the remote and peeled back the curtain separating their offices, made entirely of glass.

Annika, completely engrossed, sat with a file spread before her. Glasses perched on her nose, her brow furrowed in concentration as she scanned the document. One hand absentmindedly twirled a strand of hair, a habit that surfaced when she was deeply focused. So immersed was she that Shivay's observation went completely unnoticed.

He stood frozen, arms crossed and leaning against his desk, captivated by the sight.  His trance was abruptly shattered by the shrill ring of his phone. It was Mishra, calling to remind him about an important meeting. With a sigh, Shivay reluctantly closed the curtain, silently reprimanding himself for indulging in a moment of stolen observation.

A few hours passed in a flurry of activity for Shivay. He tackled numerous tasks and was finally taking a well-deserved break in his office when a knock on the door startled him. It was Annika.

She entered with a confident stride and perched on the chair beside his, her demeanor strictly professional. "Mr. Oberoi," she began, "I've reviewed your project report and made note of some valuable points. I plan to incorporate them into my own report tomorrow."

Annika placed her report on his desk. "Here's mine. I suggest you do the same – identify key elements you can integrate into yours. The day after tomorrow, we'll compare them and see whose report shines brighter."

With that, and without waiting for a response, she glanced at her watch, declared it noon, and exited his office with a determined air. Shivay stared after her, momentarily speechless. Her audacity both surprised and intrigued him.

Leaving Shivay's office, Annika headed straight to pick up Aadhya from kindergarten.  Upon arrival, however, she found her daughter with a downcast expression.

"Aadhya, what's wrong?" Annika asked gently, her heart skipping a beat. "Don't you like your new school?"

Aadhya's face brightened momentarily. "Oh, no, Mumma! School is fun!" she exclaimed.  "But I'm sad because I wanted to stay longer. The teacher said I had to go home."  A hint of pleading entered her voice.  "Can you talk to her and ask if I can stay with my friends?"

Annika couldn't help but smile at her daughter's innocent request.  "Sweetheart," she explained patiently, "school has a playtime schedule. You get to play with your friends for a certain amount of time, and then it's time to go home. But trust me, there will be plenty of time to play with them again tomorrow, and the day after that, and so on."

Aadhya, though not entirely convinced, nodded her head in acceptance.  As soon as they arrived back at the company, she dashed straight to the designated play area, her earlier disappointment seemingly forgotten in the joy of playtime.  Annika watched her daughter with a fond smile, then turned her attention to her own work, diving into her tasks with renewed focus.

The insistent ringing of her phone jolted Annika out of her work zone. Glancing at the screen, she saw it was Shreya.  With a sense of foreboding, she answered the call.

"Annika, whatever you're doing, drop it and get home right away!" Shreya's voice crackled with urgency. "Bring Kavya with you too. No questions, just come!"  Before Annika could even ask what was happening, the call ended abruptly.

Annika's mind raced with possibilities. What could have happened that required such a frantic summons?  Pushing aside her growing panic, she quickly wrapped up her remaining tasks and alerted Kavya to do the same.  With hurried steps, she collected Aadhya from the play area, and they all piled into the car, speeding towards home.

Upon arriving, Annika practically burst through the door, bracing herself for the worst.  But to her utter bewilderment, the house was serenely quiet and spotless. Ishita and Shreya were sprawled on the couch, engrossed in a television program.

"Shreya, what's going on?!" Annika demanded, her voice laced with confusion. "You called us back in such a frenzy..."

Their peaceful TV-watching session rudely interrupted, Shreya and Ishita jumped, startled by the unexpected arrival.  They hadn't even registered the sound of Annika's car pulling up.  Shreya sheepishly offered a weak smile.

"Oh, Annika! We... well, we just wanted to know how Aadhya's first day at school went," she stammered, a touch defensive.  Before Annika could respond, Shreya playfully shoved her aside and called out, "Aadhya, come here! Tell us all about your first day!"

Aadhya, ever the eager storyteller, happily trotted over, her eyes sparkling with excitement.  Annika, however, intervened before she could launch into her narrative.

"Hold on, sweetheart," she said gently. "Let's all freshen up first. Then you can tell us all about your big day."

Everyone readily agreed.  After a quick change of clothes, Aadhya took center stage, her captive audience gathered around her.  With animated gestures and enthusiastic expressions, she recounted her first day at school in vivid detail.

She described her new teacher, her favorite activities, and even the delicious lunch she devoured.  The friends listened with rapt attention, hanging onto every word. Aadhya's excitement was infectious, and soon, the living room was filled with laughter and animated chatter.

As Aadhya reached the end of her storytelling, Shreya, unable to contain her amusement, burst out, "Oh my god, Annika, she's so adorable! You have to admit, getting a front-row seat to this was worth the 'urgent' call, don't you think?"

Annika couldn't help but smile. Shreya's impulsiveness might be a handful at times, but there was no denying her infectious enthusiasm and love for her niece.  Shaking her head fondly, Annika conceded the point.

"Alright, alright," she chuckled. "Maybe the fake emergency wasn't so bad after all. Especially seeing Aadhya so happy."
