'Silia had a nightmare last night, it was something to do with this Mansion they were living in. She didn't tell anybody until she found Sasha and Philip's dead body near the Mansion, among the trees. Nightmare was about an axe-man trying to hurt everyone who resides in there. Cameras were installed, the case was reported to the police and all but no hint that the Silia's nightmare came true'.
Me and Miles look at each other thinking about the axe-man we witnessed. I panic wondering if he's still out here, free in the halls or the rooms around where Sarah and Rohan are.
I read faster to know if Silia's nightmare did happen for real. As we read page after page, we were convinced.
The man did return and murdered the rest of the members in this mansion. The bodies were never found except Philip's and Sasha's. Nothing was caught on the camera too. My heart is burdened with this story and I can't believe that this is happening again with us.
I look at Miles. My eyes are holding the tears and am trying hard to keep it together. He caresses my cheek.
'Come on, let's find that couple'.
I nod.
'What do we do with Jessica? Should we leave her sleeping here?'.
That is a great idea but.
'I mean she wanted to be left alone in here', I reply.
'Rohan has to be the one to do that. So let's wake her up', he adds.
I chuckle.
After calling her name and shaking her ass out of the chair she wakes up from her nap.
'You read it already?'.
'Um yes', I say.
'Bet you didn't find anything'.
I look at Miles and with a heavy sigh I tell her that axe-man was behind all the deaths that took place here.
'What!'.
'Now let's go find them', He says.
We run shouting their names over and over again. My flashlight flickers warning me that it would give up on me anytime soon. Shit not now. I try turning the batteries but the same happens.
So one flashlight, no Sarah and Rohan and the time is running. There's no clock in here. But I know it's not more than one o'clock in the morning.
We checked all the rooms, no sign of anything we saw before and no sign of my friends either.
'We need to check the store room', I tell them.
Miles nods and we march towards the hell door I locked. Miles holds my hand and I held his hand tight never wanting to let go. As I open the store room door, the light from the flashlight flashes in and I see no body inside. And the door behind us closes leaving Jessica alone in the hall. Why all the freaking door closes automatically trapping one or the other? The axe-guy isn't behind this right?
'Jessica! Jessica! Jessica!', I bang the door it doesn't break, yeah no shit. I cry bawling my eyes out.
'This is all m..y faultt, I shouldn't have agreed, I could've ar..argued to not come here but...', I slide and sit down folding the legs in front of me hugging them tight.
I just want them back, I want Sarah back.
Miles keeps the flashlight on the side and kneels in front of me hugging. He brushes my hairs and whispers into my ear, 'it's okay'.
'Sarah could've annoyed the shit out of the axe man. They're fine and Jessica, well she.....could use the candelabra to scare the man. So um yeah we need to get out now, I mean we have the tools here Riley come on'.
Right.
'Yes'.
As I try to get up, he reaches for my wrist and pulls me down, holding my chin up to meet his eyes.
'It's not your fault'.
'And don't leave my side, please', he pleads. Those eyes wanting to tell me more than just that stares at me for my answer and I nod not knowing what else to say. Why does my heart thump for him but never say anything?
After searching all the racks we find a chainsaw. He ruins the door and now we're in the hall.
'It's all a pattern don't you think, to take us away one by one till no one is left just like in that book we read', I stutter. We didn't find them anywhere.
'Am not wrong am sure so why not you just leave me here alone and...go. I'll ask him where the others are', no other perfect idea I could come up with where Miles is safe.
'Please'.
'Riley I told you not to leave my side and what makes you think I'd isolate you here', he's hurt more than being angry.
'You're not getting the point Miles. Am...am trying to get them out of here and I don't want to put you in danger', tears are trying to creep out of my eyes.
'You all came here to have a good weekend and I don't want......to your parents to worry about you all. So please leave, leave me here and I'll come back with them please Miles. I don't want you here. Go and ask for help I'll manage somehow until you comeback please Miles', he needs to leave cause I won't be able to keep the tears too long.
'Am not going anywhere Riley. Am not leaving you and that's that'.
'Please I don't want to waste any more time. Now onwards I want to be there for you, I ......I', he fumbles for words.
What is he thinking? I want to know.
'I want to be there for you when you cry, when you laugh and when you think you're not enough for me, to tell you that I, that I am drawn towards you more than you ever will know', he's crazy.
'But every time I try to come close to you, talk to you, you get far away from me even though in distance we're not', he gets close to me, only five feet apart.
Miles, you don't know how much I have dreamed of me being with you, only dreamed.
'Talk to me Riley please, tell me you don't want to be with me and I'll leave you alone', those words are hurting him as they're hurting me too.
'You seemed like you have a thing for Jess but'.
'Who told you that?'.
'No one. I assumed watching the way you don't want me to be around you guys when you have something to tell her. I understand and am trying to get over you', I whisper the last sentence.
He steps closer, and I glare at those mushy, ardent eyes absorbing every structure and colour they hold, into my mind.
'Say the words that I always wanted to hear from you Riley, it's now or never. Don't lose me cause I don't want to lose you'.
As those words leave his mouth, I hug him tight never ever telling him again to leave me alone.
'Miles you'll always be my special meal that I won't be able to take off of my menu', I murmur in his ear.
