Agrim couldn't shake the feeling of unease that settled over him after parting ways with Sanika. As he made his way to his next class, his thoughts were consumed by her—her infectious laughter, the warmth in her eyes, the way she seemed to see right through him.
He couldn't understand why she had taken an interest in him, why she had chosen to sit next to him in class. He had spent years building walls around himself, keeping others at arm's length to protect the secrets he carried within. And yet, there was something about Sanika that made him want to let her in, to share those secrets with her.
But he couldn't afford to let his guard down—not with the darkness that lurked within him, waiting to be unleashed. He had seen the way people looked at him, the fear and apprehension in their eyes. He was no stranger to the whispers and rumors that followed him wherever he went.
As he entered his next class, Agrim found himself greeted by curious glances and hushed whispers. He ignored them, focusing instead on the material being presented, but he couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, of being judged by his classmates.
When the class ended, Agrim made his way out of the lecture hall, his mind still reeling from his encounter with Sanika. He felt a strange mix of emotions—fear, excitement, longing—all tangled together in a web of confusion.
As he walked through the crowded hallway, he caught sight of Sanika up ahead, talking animatedly with a group of classmates. She looked so at ease, so comfortable in her own skin, and Agrim couldn't help but feel a pang of envy. He wished he could be more like her—confident, outgoing, unafraid to show his true self to the world.
But he knew that was impossible. He had spent too long hiding behind a mask of indifference, too long burying the darkness that simmered just beneath the surface. He couldn't risk letting it out, couldn't risk hurting anyone else the way he had hurt those he loved in the past.
Lost in his thoughts, Agrim almost didn't notice when someone bumped into him, jolting him back to reality. He turned to see one of his classmates—a girl he vaguely recognized from his previous classes—staring up at him with wide eyes.
"Sorry," she mumbled, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "I didn't see you there."
Agrim nodded, offering a faint smile before continuing on his way. But as he walked, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was stirring within him, something dark and dangerous that threatened to consume him whole.
And as he looked ahead to the days to come, he couldn't help but wonder what role Sanika would play in unraveling the shadows that lay hidden within him. Would she be his salvation, his light in the darkness? Or would she be his undoing, leading him further down a path from which there was no return?
As Agrim made his way through the crowded hallway, lost in his thoughts, he barely registered the familiar voice calling out to him. It wasn't until a hand landed on his shoulder, startling him out of his reverie, that he realized someone was trying to get his attention.
Turning around, Agrim found himself face to face with Professor Patel, his stern gaze softened by a hint of warmth. "Agrim, just the person I was looking for," the professor said, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
Agrim's brow furrowed in confusion. He couldn't remember ever having a conversation with Professor Patel outside of class. "Is something wrong, Professor?" he asked, his voice tinged with concern.
The professor shook his head, his smile widening. "Not at all, my boy. In fact, I have a proposition for you."
Agrim's curiosity was piqued. "What kind of proposition?"
Professor Patel glanced over his shoulder, his eyes landing on Sanika, who was still engrossed in conversation with her classmates. "I've noticed that you're one of the brightest students in the class, Agrim," he began. "And I was thinking that perhaps you could lend a hand to our newest addition."
Agrim's heart skipped a beat. He had a sinking feeling he knew where this was going. "You want me to help Sanika with her assignments, don't you?"
The professor nodded, a twinkle of amusement in his eyes. "Guilty as charged. Sanika is a talented student, but she's still finding her footing here. I believe your guidance could be invaluable to her."
Agrim hesitated, his mind racing. He had never been one to seek out the spotlight, preferring instead to blend into the background. But something about the earnestness in Professor Patel's voice, the way he spoke of Sanika with such admiration, stirred something within him.
"Alright, Professor," Agrim finally relented, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "I'll do it."
Professor Patel clapped him on the shoulder, a grin spreading across his face. "Excellent! I knew I could count on you, Agrim. I'll talk to Sanika and let her know you'll be her partner for the upcoming project."
As the professor walked away, Agrim couldn't help but feel a sense of apprehension mingled with excitement. He had agreed to help Sanika, to step out of his comfort zone and take on a role he had never imagined for himself.
But as he looked ahead to the challenges that lay ahead, he couldn't help but wonder if this was the beginning of something new—a chance to break free from the shadows that had haunted him for so long and embrace the light that Sanika had brought into his life.
