It was now the second day and the group felt that they were getting close to the CDC. Bonnie was still thinking about what had happened the night before with Shane. She was lost in thought until Rick came to her side.

“What’s on your mind, Bon?” He asked as Bonnie turned to him. “What?” She asked as she tilted her head. Rick couldn’t help, but smirk at her. “You’re thinkin’ about him, aren’t you,” Rick said as Bonnie’s face started to get red. Rick chuckled at this as they continued walking. Shane was leading the way and they walked for another couple of miles until they finally saw the building.

The thing that they had hoped they would find, the CDC. The building looked abandoned in just those few weeks since the outbreak. They made sure to keep watch for walkers as they tried to look for some sort of entrance inside. Finally, they spotted a metal door and approached it. They tried to look for some way to open it when they heard a voice coming from a speaker. “Who’s out there?” The voice said. Bonnie answered back. “It’s just us, a camp of survivors.” She said as the voice came back on.

“I’m afraid I can’t allow you guys in.” The voice said. Bonnie huffed. “Please, None of us are infected and there are children here. Please, just please let us in.” Bonnie pleaded. After a few moments of back and forth between Bonnie and the other side, the front door finally opened and they got in. They saw a man in a white coat. He was dressed professionally and looked at them. “If that door closes, It won’t open up again,” He said as the group thought about it, but ultimately went inside.

They were walking around for a bit and found out that the man’s name was Dr. Edwin Jenner and he was the only one left in the laboratory. As they ventured deeper into the CDC, the group's footsteps echoed through the sterile corridors, a stark contrast to the chaos outside. With each step, their anticipation grew, mingled with a sense of apprehension about what they might find within the confines of the facility. Jenner had led them to a room with a bunch of computers and a big screen. He started to explain how a walker’s brain worked.

Bonnie had this weird feeling in her stomach and it seemed that Shane shared the same thing, Everybody shared this feeling. Something was off about Jenner. After he was done, He took some blood tests from the group. His reasoning was to help find a cure to stop this chaos that was going on outside. The group obliged of course waited as they made themselves a little bit more comfortable.

They stayed for the night and Bonnie and Shane had walked around and found a room privately in. It was all just murmurs and whispers. They were just discussing what they should do next since they had found somewhere that they could use as a place of refuge.

The next day, They just spent time around the CDC. It was all going well until Jenner had brought some sort of countdown on the big screen. It was a countdown for 30 minutes and they started to get a bit worried. “What the heck is that?” Bonnie said as Jenner didn’t answer for a moment, but recorded a video.

They started panicking when he went on a rant about everything the CDC had done to prevent and benefit the world from all these diseases. It was then that they realized that if they stayed any longer in here, the building would explode. They tried to find a way out, but he told them that it was no use.

They grew worried and frustrated. Jenner pulled Rick close to him as he whispered something into his ear. Rick had a look of shock and worry on his face. He turned to them and they left Jenner in the room. They started to gather their stuff and looked around for the second. With only seconds to spare, They managed to exit the building. They turned and watched as the CDC exploded and left nothing.
