Sanika couldn't help but notice the subtle shift in Agrim's behavior over the next few weeks. He had always been attentive and helpful, but now there was something more—a protective edge to his actions that she couldn't quite place. She found it endearing, assuming it was his way of looking out for her in a world that often felt overwhelming and uncertain.

One evening, after a particularly grueling study session, Agrim glanced at his watch and then at Sanika. The library was emptying out, the soft hum of conversations fading into the quiet rustle of pages turning.

"Sanika, it's getting late," Agrim said, his voice gentle but firm. "Let me walk you home."

Sanika looked up, surprised but touched by his offer. "You don't have to, Agrim. I can manage."

Agrim shook his head, his expression resolute. "I insist. It's not safe for you to be out alone this late."

Something in his tone left no room for argument, and Sanika found herself nodding in agreement. "Alright, thank you."

As they walked through the dimly lit streets, Agrim kept a close watch on their surroundings. He stayed close to her side, his presence a comforting shield against the encroaching darkness. Sanika couldn't help but feel a sense of security with him around, his protectiveness wrapping around her like a warm blanket.

"You don't have to do this, you know," Sanika said, glancing at Agrim. "I'm sure you have better things to do than play bodyguard."

Agrim's expression softened, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his lips. "I want to, Sanika. It's important to me that you're safe."

They continued walking in silence for a while, the quiet of the night broken only by the occasional distant sound of traffic. Sanika found herself reflecting on Agrim's behavior. He had always been reserved, keeping to himself and avoiding unnecessary interactions. But with her, he was different—more open, more engaged.

When they finally reached Sanika's house, she turned to Agrim, her gratitude evident in her eyes. "Thank you for walking me home, Agrim. It means a lot."

Agrim nodded, his gaze steady. "Anytime, Sanika. I'll see you tomorrow."

As she watched him walk away, Sanika couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to Agrim than met the eye. His protectiveness, his constant presence—it was as if he had taken it upon himself to shield her from the world, to be her guardian in the darkness. She found it comforting, even if she didn't fully understand the depth of his motives.

The next day, Agrim's possessiveness became even more apparent. They were in the cafeteria, grabbing lunch, when a group of boys approached Sanika, their expressions friendly and curious. Agrim tensed beside her, his eyes narrowing as he watched the interaction unfold.

"Hey, Sanika," one of the boys said, smiling. "We were wondering if you'd like to join us for a study group later."

Before Sanika could respond, Agrim stepped forward, his presence imposing. "She's busy," he said curtly, his tone leaving no room for negotiation.

The boys exchanged glances, their smiles faltering. "Alright, maybe another time," one of them muttered before they walked away.

Sanika turned to Agrim, a mixture of confusion and concern in her eyes. "Agrim, that was a bit harsh, don't you think?"

Agrim's expression softened, but his eyes remained intense. "I'm just looking out for you, Sanika. Not everyone has good intentions."

Sanika sighed, her initial irritation giving way to understanding. "I appreciate that, Agrim. But you don't have to be so... possessive. I can handle myself."

Agrim nodded, though he didn't look entirely convinced. "I know. I just don't want anything to happen to you."

As the days went by, Agrim's possessiveness became a constant presence in Sanika's life. He insisted on walking her to and from class, always keeping a watchful eye on her. At first, Sanika found it endearing, even reassuring. But as time passed, she began to wonder if there was more to Agrim's protectiveness than met the eye.

One evening, as Agrim walked Sanika home, she decided to address the issue. "Agrim, why are you always so concerned about me? It's like you're always on guard."

Agrim hesitated, his expression conflicted. "I just care about you, Sanika. More than I care to admit."

Sanika's heart skipped a beat at his words, a mixture of emotions swirling within her. "I care about you too, Agrim. But you don't have to protect me from everything. I'm stronger than you think."

Agrim stopped walking, turning to face her. His eyes were dark, filled with an intensity that took her breath away. "I know you're strong, Sanika. But there are things in this world, in my world, that you don't understand. I can't bear the thought of anything happening to you."

Sanika reached out, placing a hand on his arm. "Agrim, whatever it is you're dealing with, you don't have to face it alone. I'm here for you, just like you're here for me."

Agrim's expression softened, a mixture of gratitude and something deeper flickering in his eyes. "Thank you, Sanika. That means more to me than you'll ever know."

As they continued their walk, Sanika couldn't shake the feeling that Agrim's protectiveness was more than just a quirk of his personality. It was a shield, a barrier he had constructed to keep the darkness at bay. And as their bond grew stronger, she found herself determined to uncover the truth behind Agrim's shadows, to stand by his side no matter what came their way.
