Prologue:
I watch as the lights in the city slowly falter out. Our lights-out curfew is at 10:00 every night. You could be fined if you broke this rule, along with many others. This city has secrets. I've always thought they were to keep us, the loyal people, safe. But oh, no. That is a horrible, horrible lie.

My name is Amber. My family has never been too wealthy. I'll admit, we're not poor. Ok, let's just say I might do work for fun. I don't mean chores work. I mean work, work. My job is at a laundromat. I know, silly, right? But not many jobs accept kids. I'm just lucky to get a paycheck. My shift is from 2:30 to 9:00 pm. That's why I come out here. I love to watch the lights of the city die down to nothing. It's the one part of the night when (most people) get home to their family's, go to sleep, and dream. I love to dream. It takes the depressing reality of life away and replaces it with a fantasy. No one can imagine my fantasies.
