rodrygo x vini jr
rodrygo messes up an interview and vini reassures him !

*ੈ

Vini huffs and runs a hand through his thick hair, whistling absent-mindedly as he looks at the scene before him. His boyfriend sits at the dining table, one hand picking at the skin on his lower lip while the other scrolls endlessly through social media comments. Vini internally sighs, dragging his feet as he drops his stuff by the door and shuffles over.

Recently, Rodrygo spoke in an interview in which the journalists cut his words and made it sound like he said something he didn't mean at all. It also didn't help that Rodrygo misspoke, given that Spanish is his second language. This all happened just a day ago, and now the news was filled with rumors of Rodrygo going to Manchester City.

Naturally, Rodrygo was mortified.

"Hey, Rodry," Vini greeted, leaning down to press a lingering kiss to the younger Brazilian's forehead. Rodrygo only narrowly realized Vini had done so, his eyes flickering up to meet Vini's in a flash.

"Hi," Rodrygo replies simply. Through the tension in his voice and slight scrunch of his wide nose, Vini could tell Rodrygo was upset. In fact, he didn't even need to have seen Rodrygo to be able to tell. His boyfriend was always worried about coming across the wrong way or messing up in the press and/or interviews. Although he was better at Spanish than all the other Brazilians in the club and was the best at speaking to journalists, his own worries and fears made him more likely to mess up than anyone else.

Metal screeches against cold tiled floors as Vini pulls a chair out, sitting next to Rodrygo and peering over his shoulder at the phone held tightly in his hands. Rodrygo huffs and shuts his phone off, turning to look at Vini who's now resting his chin on the younger's shoulder. They share a moment of silence – Vini staring into Rodrygo's doe eyes – and the latter rolls his eyes and slumps over the table.

"I hate being famous," Rodrygo groans against the table.

"We both know that isn't true," Vini chuckles as he props himself up with one arm, peering down at Rodry with an amused grin.

"I hate doing interviews, then," Rodrygo replies, shifting his head to glare up at Vini who whistles lowly and holds his hands up in a placating gesture. He drops the teasing though, not wanting to upset his brooding boyfriend any further. Vini knew he himself was a handful when he was upset, but Rodrygo was a whole new kind of sulker in his moments. Goodness knows he doesn't want to bring the boy to that point.

"Fair enough," Vini speaks under his breath. He gazes down at Rodrygo, taking in his partner's smaller form deathly tense & rigid where he sits. Vini cracks his fingers before reaching over and beginning to massage Rodrygo's shoulders, working out the small knots he could feel being formed. "You're gonna to stress yourself to an early grave, Rodry."

"I don't do it on purpose," Rodrygo groans, relaxing into Vini's touch with small sighs. The stress of the past week and knowledge of future endeavors lace his entire figure, which seems to fold in on itself to become smaller and smaller. He allows himself to be calmed by Vini for a few moments, before finally lifting his head and looking at the older boy with a small frown. It speaks a thousand words.

"What did Maria say?" Vini asks, heart stuttering at his boyfriend's sad little face. He wished he could just take all of Rodrygo's bad feelings and fling them out of their lives forever. He couldn't do that, obviously, but he could certainly try. "She helped me a lot when I called that guy a bitch," He finishes, biting back a smile at the memory. Rodrygo can't hold his back, the memory forcing a small smile to spread across his plump pinkish lips.
