014. MEETING THE POTENTIAL STEP MONSTER

Chapter fourteen

"Meeting the potential step monster."

The fourth of July was always a big deal in cousins, where everyone in the entire town celebrated it to where it seemed to get bigger and bigger every year as they grew up, where at the Fisher residence, Susannah always made sure it was decked out both inside and out in red white and blue, this was when the dad's would finally come up, the boys steam clams and always have a huge firework show at the end of the night, hence the cardboard cut out of Harry Styles being used as bottle rocket target practice, which they found absolutely hilarious.

As Diana was wearing a dark blue dress and having her hair up in a bun with the two front pieces hanging out and framing her face, she sat next to Jeremiah as the two ate their cereal, having made it to the milk, the two looked at each other "three, two, one.." Jeremiah counted down, as the two then began drinking it, seeing who can drink it the fastest, her and Jeremiah smiled at each other, as Belly chuckled looking at them disgusted, as Conrad walked into the room "yo, I'm gonna wash the clams. Did you get the lighter fluid?" he asked "mm. Yeah, it's already on the beach." Jeremiah shared, as Conrad whistled, turning and walking out.

Diana brought her bowl down "well he seems surprisingly happy?" she questioned, as Jeremiah raised his brows at her, bringing his down as well "doesn't he?" he asked, as Steven and Susannah walked in, Diana laughed as she looked at Jeremiah "you've got.." she told him, motioning to her lip, Jeremiah raised his brows "milk mustache? Here?" he asked her, trying to wipe it off, completely missing it "no, no, no." Diana told him, laughing "um..let me.." she told him, reaching over and wiping it off for him, the two stared at each other.

"Uh, which makes me think if Diana doesn't hurry up and ask Cam to that ball, you should take her." Susannah shared, and at the mention of Cam, Diana and Jeremiah's heads snapped to her so fast, knowing that he wasn't exactly a viable option at the moment "actually, um, Cam can't be an option anymore because he broke up with me the night of the birthday. After I made out with Taylor." Diana shared, and when she did, Steven looked at her with wide eyes "you what?" he asked, as Susannah smiled "well, you're not the only one who's made out with her best friend before." she shared.

And when she did, all of their jaws dropped realizing what she meant "oh my god." Diana said "wait, you and.." Jeremiah questioned, pointing at her "our mom?" Belly and Steven asked "we were in college plus dancing with each other meant that we got free drinks at the bar." Susannah shared, as the four of them started laughing, Susannah pointed at them "don't tell her that I told you any of this." she shared, as they all laughed.

Their mom walked in "don't tell who what?" she asked "that's I'm going with Shayla." Steven shared "to the debutante ball?" their mom asked "yes." Steven said "as an escort?" their mom asked "wrap your head around it, mom, all right? Shayla's coming today with Nicole and Gigi, so you'll meet her." Steven shared, as Diana huffed "Gigi's coming?" she asked, as Steven looked to her "yes. Why?" he asked her, as Diana motioned to Jeremiah "he's why!" she voiced, as Steven chuckled "oh yeah! Dude your so screwed!" he voiced "I can handle Gigi." Jeremiah told them "I don't know about that." Belly shared, laughing.

"Oh, and forget, Ms Covington's first dance rehearsal is tomorrow, so, uh, tick tock, girls." Susannah shared "well like I said, Cam's no longer an option." Diana shared "what? Why?" their mom asked "because he broke up with me after I made out with Taylor." Diana shared, as their mom hummed "I thought I saw her jealousy side come out. But I think you and him breaking up is for the best, I mean you didn't have much in common. You would've gotten bored of him sooner or later." she shared "that's what I said!" Jeremiah voiced, holding his arms out, Diana chuckled "and so did Taylor. Maybe Belly should date em? At least maybe make him her part time dance partner." she shared.
