A New Start

It's been a few days since Noel and his friends were in Leaf Village. They fit in just fine. They explored the whole village, and were wandering around. “Do we have to go back to explore?” Mary asked. Derek shoved his hands in the pockets, “Why not.” he replied. Jazz and Noel agreed. So they started to get out of the village, in the woods of Red Hollywood. They took the train to go back in Main Gate. When arrived they saw some smoke in the distance. “Uh, what's that?” Noel asked. Derek started to run toward the smoke, “Hey!” Jazz exclaimed and started to follow him, so the others did. When arrived there was a crowd, watching Noel's school, on flames. Noel was surprised, Derek shocked, Mary was about to cry, so Jazz gave her a side hug to give her some comfort, “What..?” Noel said quietly, “Well, guess you have to change school.” Derek suggested, Jazz nodded, Mary hugged him. Soon the firefighters arrived to deal with the situation, while Noel and his friends walked away. “I don't like where everything is going... I'm scared...” Mary said with trembling voice, “Everything will be okay, don't worry.” Jazz said to reassure Mary. “We have to stop this chaos.”  Derek said, “But how?” Noel asked, Derek looked at him. “If you want to get out of situations like these, you have to learn how to defend yourselves.” he replied, Jazz was confused. “I don't think fighting is the right wa-” he got interrupted by Derek, “Oh, no Mr. Pacifist, in situations like these you fight, or die.” he said, with serious and stern tone, Jazz looked down in silence. “You could've been less severe.” Noel said, “Leave me alone.” Derek replied, rolling his eyes, “I'm heading off. Have fun, idiots.” he added, before walking away. Leaving Noel, Jazz and Mary alone. Some days passed after the incident, and Noel decided to take Derek's recommendation, changing school. He talked about it with his parents, they decided to enroll Noel in the Wizard Junior Academy. A school that is specialized in training mages and sorcerers, who  were in the age of 13 and 17 years old. Noel was wandering around the city, and stopped at a park. He saw Derek who was throwing punches in the air, kicks and evading to dodge. Noel approached. “Hey, what are you doing?” he asked. Derek stopped on his tracks, “What does it look like for you?” Derek asked. It was noon at that time, with a warm and light breeze around that hit Noel and Derek's skin. “You're training, I understand.” Noel said, “Can I join you?” he asked. Derek was a bit surprised by the request, then smiled, “Why not, come here.” he accepted. The two started to train together. Noel managed to understand the basics, while Derek was training on his own. At one point Noel paused. “Derek.” he called out. Derek turned to look at Noel, “Hm?” he said. “Why.” Noel said, leaving Derek confused, “Why what?” Derek asked so Noel could clarify. “Why didn't you tell anyone you knew how to use magic?” Noel asked. Derek was silent for a moment, then gave a scoff,
“It's none of your business-”
“No, now you explain yourself to me.” Derek went quiet again, then lowered his head. “You know not everyone like mages, no?” he asked, this surprised Noel, “No...I didn't know.” he said, “I hid it from some people because they can't stand mages.” Derek explained, “But that one time I had no choice.” he said, and started to walk away. Noel remained at the park and it was starting to get dark. “Wait-” he said, but Derek only gave him an irritated look in response, before storming off completely. Just like that, Noel also went back home, knowing the sad truth. Maybe tomorrow it'll be better, that has to be seen.
