Silent Soul: a game of crime, secrets and betrayals

Prologue

I was filled with a mix of anger and fear as I tried to comprehend what was happening. The trespasser leaned against the wall, his expression neutral as he waited for my response. "What do you want?" I demanded, my voice shaking with emotion. I didn't trust this stranger, but I felt helpless in the face of his power.

"It's nothing personal," he replied calmly. "The boss has a job for you, and I'm here to deliver the details." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, thin envelope. "Read this, and then make your decision." He handed me the envelope, and I hesitantly opened it, feeling a mix of fear and apprehension. Inside was a piece of paper with instructions and a list of supplies I needed.

"If you don't agree to do the job, something will happen to your loved ones," he said ominously. "You have 48 hours to decide." He stood up and headed towards the window, but before he could escape. I called out, "Wait! What if I do the job? Will you leave my girlfriend alone?"

He turned back to face me, his expression unreadable. "That depends. Are you prepared to take the risk?" He paused for a moment as if weighing the pros and cons in his mind. "If you complete the job, I'll make sure no harm comes to her. But remember, the boss has eyes and ears everywhere. If you fail, the consequences will be severe." h

I couldn't believe what was happening. I felt like I was trapped in a nightmare, and I had no idea how to escape. All I knew was that I had to do whatever it took to save my girlfriend. "Okay," I said finally, my voice trembling. "I'll do it. Just leave her out of it."

The stranger nodded in approval and headed towards the window once more, but before he left, he turned and gave me a warning look. "Remember, watch what you say and do."

I nodded, feeling a deep sense of dread as I watched him disappear into the darkness. I was in over my head, and I had no idea how I was going to get out of this mess. But one thing I would do anything to protect my girlfriend.
