After finishing our meals and paying at the counter, we all walked down the street and around the corner, heading in the direction of the rink. This was a fairly active square, with many cafes, restaurants, the roller skating rink, a small arcade, a movie theatre, and even a bright red ice cream truck parked right in the middle.
Denki and I, rushed to the truck, ordering chocolate and peanut butter fudge, and quickly ate it while waiting for the others to catch up.
Once the group was back together, we made our way inside the rink.
If we thought the diner with 70's clothes and a big confetti welcome, was over the top, then nothing had prepared us for this.
The entire rink was filled with neon lights, a big dangling disco, and smoke that was presumably from a smoke machine. There were long black curtains that draped all around the rink, but even those were somehow covered in shimmering glitter.
There was balloons, confetti, little laser lights everywhere you looked, and even pink flamingos, which confused me a little.Loud music blared, and I could tell from the voice over the intercom, that it was Present Mic doing the DJ'ing tonight.
"I'm so excited!" Eri clapped her hands together, jumping up and down.
"Remember what I said, Eri. You have to find someone else to take you around the rink, because I'm not going out there." Aizawa explained, going to find a seat somewhere that he could watch from.
I immediately tried to blend into the background, hoping I'd get away with watching from the sidelines for a bit and then could slip out before anybody noticed; but that was not the plan for the evening, apparently.
I got pushed towards the skate fitting area by Uraraka and Tsu, who practically forced a pair of skates onto my feet and tightened them. They then brought me out onto the rink, and started pulling me along behind them.
I had never skated before in my life, so trying to get my balance felt almost impossible, but after falling over half a dozen times, and Tsu explaining the right technique, I eventually got the hang of it.
Compared to me, they seemed like professionals, and I kind of admired their ability to float across the rink so effortlessly.
I spent a solid twenty minutes just skating in circles with them, hand-in-hand with Tsu and Uraraka, while we spoke of silly topics of conversation and made jokes, or discussed training.
Eventually they split off from me, so I spent a couple minutes skating around by myself, although I still wasn't the most confident at it. I'd wobble from time to time and have to try really hard to regain my balance, but eventually I did.
I took Eri from Denki and Midoryia, and skated around the rink once with her, which took a little longer than expected with her shorter legs. It also didn't help that she was just learning how to skate as well, so she had a few accidental slips, but nothing major.
I lifted her up into my arms, resting her on my hip, as I spun her in circles. She giggled aloud, and told me to spin faster, so I did just that.
After awhile though, Aizawa called out to Eri and said it was time to go home, so I took her back over to the railing.
"Here's your bag." Aizawa said, passing me my duffle bag.
