THE SUPPOSED HIDING FROM 'JOOST KLEIN'

Ding. Ding. You pick your phone up–more messages from Joost. You're not opening them. It's 13:28, November 4th. You're not responding to Joost's messages, you're fucking terrified after last night, and you're worried about whether or not he hates you after your kiss. The night ended beautifully, but all you can worry about is your relationship with him. Sigh.

You're in bed, and while you should be up and showering already, Vieno has food in his bowl and your blanket and laptop are weighing you down. All you can do is sigh again, a pitiful sigh, knowing you might've sabotaged the one good thing you had going for you in your life. Lifting the lid of your laptop, you try to distract yourself. And your distractions lead you to his Instagram.

His most recent Instagram post was from a month ago. Giving up after realizing you had already liked the post, you open your messages. 9 new messages from him, but you're too scared to open them now. You go back to his page and see that Appie had commented on his post. You go to his profile and follow him, then open Google.

Even though you didn't want to reply, you still wanted to see him. You click on the first link–Joost Klein fanpage. Fuckers.

And then you reach @rauweboy . It hadn't been touched since 2020 but was full of Tweets. His profile picture is of his Crazy Frog tattoo, which you felt and the one he was so proud to show you. It's all in Dutch, and while you could read it, you didn't feel up to it. I'll just scroll images, you think. And then after, I'll reply to his messages. Your phone dings from your bedside table, and it's hard not to reach for it. But you keep scrolling.

First, a photo of him and Jorja Smith–you were jealous, but you couldn't do anything about it. Then, an old photo of him in early 2020. He had a full beard, and while it looked a little strange, the photo was taken in bright sunlight, and all you could do was stare at his eyes. You stared for an uncomfortable amount of time, thinking.

I hope I didn't screw this up.

He posted himself a lot. He looked different from his current self, but he was still definitely attractive 4 years ago. A photo of him and bbno$, and photos of him crowdsurfing at his concerts, and then a lot of reposted memes about him. And then, more cute photos of him. I have to message him back. You open your messages from him, 10 unread.

He's overthinking as well. You couldn't tell what was happening though–did you both regret it in the way that you both liked each other, or did he regret it because he didn't like you? Were you a bad kisser, maybe you were just ugly to him? He regrets kissing you because he could never like you . You crack your knuckles and start to type up a message.
