She hated the idea of a blind date, had only agreed because her friend had sworn they'd get along and that he was so close to her ideal guy that she'd be insane not to give it a go.
"Humpf," she'd answered Becca, "unless his body moves well, in all situations, I'm not interested. The last guy stood on my feet twice when we were simply walking down the street and the one before that was so tall and gangly that he moved like an awkward chicken. There's no way they could move well in bed."
"An awkward chicken," Becca laughed. "I'm not even sure what to do with that. But you're in luck, he's a dancer, like you."
"A dancer-dancer or a think-I-can-dancer?"
"He's trained and can move well. I've seen him dance, you will likely find he moves well in bed too."
"Not on the first date," she said and Becca rolled her eyes.
"We've both said that before," and Aimee started to laugh because it was true, they both had and had broken that rule more than once. The trouble was, it hadn't worked out well with any of them and so there was regret associated with those encounters, brushed off as a mistake and 'never again.'
"This time I mean it," she said, feeling determined. If she liked him enough to have a second date, they'd see but this first date had rules around it and she was going to stick with them.

"Oooooookkkkkk," Becca replied like she didn't believe her. "But I mean, he really is your type so I won't hold you to that."
"So he can dance and I'll find him attractive too?" OK, so maybe she was a little curious now.
"Let's just say if you had to create the guy you think is perfect for you, he'd come pretty close to ticking all the boxes. Or at least the ones I know about him."
"Well, either way, I've said I'm going and it's probably a little late to pull out now," she said with a sigh. " Do I look alright?"
"Babe, you look gorgeous," Becca said, admiring the fit her friend was wearing. Aimee was effortlessly pretty, her petiteness perfect for the dancing she did as a semi professional and anything looked good on her. "And it is just a movie so if you don't gel before the movie starts then at least you can just not talk throughout the whole thing."
"Strange time of day though. 10pm to start the movie is much later than I would normally go on a date but you did say his working days can be all over the place. I hope that doesn't mean he is a work-a-holic. I don't want to be with a guy who never has time for me."
"Are you already planning on marrying him," Becca asked and Aimee recoiled in horror.
"What?? No! I just mean that's kind of important."
"Well, start with date one, you might not even want a date two," she replied, smirking to herself.
"Why the look," Aimee asked and her friend just shrugged.
"Something tells me you are going to be more than surprised."
"I don't even know his name, it's all a little bit secret squirrel."
"Live a little Aimee, he'll tell you when you see him. Or you may not even have to ask his name."
"What does that mean, I might not have to ask? Oh my goodness, please don't tell me you've set me up with one of our friends?? That could be a disaster!"
"Stop reading things into everything I say, just go and enjoy yourself," Becca said, patting her arm and Aimee glanced back to the mirror, smoothing down her hair for the 18th time.

"Where did you say you knew him from again," she asked, reapplying lip gloss so her lips weren't dry, leaving them looking lush and kissable. Whether she'd let him was another story.
"Oh you know, a friend of a friend of a friend at a party one time," Becca answered vaguely.
"That seems quite a distant connection to know so much about him," Aimee said, turning to her friend and frowning.
"Just trust me babe and we will definitely debrief tomorrow!"
"Alright, best head out to my 'super late to start a date, don't know his name or what he looks like, sending me into a dark theatre with a random guy' date."

Becca laughed at her friend. "I tell ya what. If it goes horribly, I'll buy you that latest BT21 plushie you've been after for a while."
"Oooooo, the chimmy one? It's a deal! I kind of hope it does go badly now," she laughed, reaching for her purse and making sure she had everything. "That's constantly out of stock so I hope you have a good connection to get one for me."
"We'll see won't we," Becca said and waved her off. "Now, behave yourself and report back. You know you can always code purple me if you want me to call and make up an excuse to leave."
"Thanks babe, love you," Aimee said as she headed out, a little nervous but even if it did go badly, she had a consolation prize to look forward to. She was quite fond of the little characters, bed scattered in all of the plushies and pillows she could fit but there was always room for one more.
