"Baba, please don't do this to me..." Ranveer choked on his words, holding back his tears. The smoke from his father's cigarette burned his throat, making him cough.
"The decision has been made. You will marry Kaahini tomorrow afternoon." Udayveer looked at Ranveer through the thick cloud of smoke.
"But I hate that woman! I cannot live the rest of my life with her."
"Shut up! The whole city knows you killed your sister! The only way you can escape jail is by marrying Kaahini."
"I'm ready to go to jail"
"Then our family honor will be washed away in the gutter. And the police will start an enquiry on your sister's murder case."
"Police enquiry? On Sakshi's death?"
"Of course. The opposition party will tear us to pieces with the enquiry."
Ranveer couldn't let that happen. He had fought hard to protect the truth about his sister Sakshi. One wrong step, and all his plans would be ruined.
"Fine. I'll marry Kaahini."
Udayveer's lips curled into a wicked smile. "Good, my son. Now get some sleep."
Ranveer dashed to his bedroom and shut the door. Hot sweat covered his face and hands. The cold air blasting from the AC made his body shiver.
He knew that Kaahini was the secret child of a politician and a bar dancer. She was a jealous and bitter woman, always making nasty remarks about his sister Sakshi. Her brother Hemant had ruined their lives forever. And now... he had to marry her.
