Chapter twenty eight
"So much talk about destiny."
It was now the final day of junior year, as Diana's hair was longer now and more straight, to where she had been wearing it down a lot more opposed to up, as she was sitting in class next to Taylor the two of them were laughing along with Marcy, Evelyn and Katie who were on the volleyball team with them, where the only person not there was Belly seeing as she was in a different class.
Which her being happy was surprising seeing as only a month ago, Susannah had died and on the same day of her funeral, Jeremiah had decided to break up with her, and yet she wasn't gonna let those two things stop the rest of her life, knowing that's the opposite of what Susannah would want.
So she went about like everything was normal, focused on finishing her junior year of school, hanging out with her friends but what she didn't expect was to snag her sister's captaincy from her, where when Belly started slipping at regionals causing them to almost lose the game, coach benched her to where she told everyone that Diana was captain now and she happened to lead them all to a shocking victory seeing as they were down so far.
Where as the bell rang, they all got up and began walking out of the classroom and down the hallway, where Diana and Taylor were leading the way as the rest of the girls followed them as they headed toward's Belly's locker "I can't believe your gonna be leading us through volleyball camp this summer Diana." Marcy shared "yeah!" Evelyn and Katie voiced "I know! This is the best team we've had in years." Taylor shared, as Diana laughed "guys, can we maybe cool it on how I'm the better team captain talk as we approach my sister?" she asked, as Taylor nudged her "oh, come on, don't be modest! Tell them what you made us!" she voiced.
As Diana smiled "well, I made us all these matching pink crop tops with our numbers and the back and i got matching hoodies and a bunch of new kneepads." she shared "ooh!" all the girls voiced, as Diana and Taylor chuckled, they looked to Belly who was cleaning out her locker "hey, Bells. It's not too late to sign up for volleyball camp, you know." Taylor shared "Taylor.." Diana told her "um.." Belly said as she looked at Diana.
They then heard Steven cheering from down the hallway "oh, high school is over, bitches!" he voiced, putting his arms around Evelyn and Katie, as Diana and Taylor turned to him "whoo!" Steven voiced "you're such a clown, Steven." Taylor informed him "what?" Steven asked, as Diana scoffed "oh come, he's not only valedictorian but after telling us all that he would be going to Princeton and is actually going to Princeton? I think Mr IVY league deserves to be screaming down the hallway rubbing it in everyone's faces." she shared, as Steven laughed "thank you, my baby sister.' he shared, holding his hand out for a fist bump, Diana fist bumped him.
"Wait, are you going to Princeton? That's so cool, I couldn't tell." Taylor shared, as Diana chuckled "oh, you..you couldn't tell? I love you, too." Steven shared, reaching his hand out and brushing her bangs into her face, the other girls laughed "yo, yo, yo, Steven." Spike ran up, as him and Steven did their handshake "Spike, what's up, man?" Steven asked him "what times the grad party tomorrow, man?" Spike asked "oh, the band comes o at ten. I'm dating the singer." Taylor shared "oh yeah that's right! I keep forgetting about wannabe MGK!" Diana voiced, as Taylor nudged her, Diana laughed
"Oh, yeah! I tried to veto him from playing, but I guess we couldn't find anybody cheaper." Steven shared "oh.." the girls all said, as Taylor gave Steven the middle finger, she turned and did the same thing to Diana who gasped "oh don't be mad at me!" she voiced, grabbing Taylor's hand and putting it down as she leaned toward's her face "but if he keeps shaving his head and bleaching his hair he is reaching slim shady Eminem status." she shared, chuckling, as Taylor laughed with her, swinging her hand up to hit her, the other girls laughed.
