Chapter Six

I was jostled awake by the feeling of being hit. Repeatedly. In the face…With what felt like a pillow of some sort..?

“Oi! Raine! Wake up, we have a stopover and a plane switch to do!” someone yelled in my ear

“uaewjhkrjgsh go away, I’m sleeping”

“Too bad! Now get up before you’re dragged off the plane by security like that woman was!”

“Wait…what?” I sat up and tried to take in my surroundings, but had to blink a few times before my vision was clear. “Where is everyone going?”

“To the terminal” Layla explained “We’ve stopped off in Singapore on the way to London so we can switch airlines or aircrafts or something, I don’t know”

“Ugh” I groaned “My head hurts”

“Build a bridge and get over it, now hurry up and get a move on, geez you’re as bad as I am”

I faked a dramatic gasp “Ok, a) I am NOT qualified to build a bridge, because it would break and the troll underneath would eat me, and b) no one is as bad as you!”

“Whatever” she giggled “You’re so weird, you know that right?”

“I know…we both are”

“Yep, now hurry up! We’re like the last people on board, apart from your parents who are down the front waiting for us”

“Oops, didn’t mean to keep them waiting…Forgot they’re here” I mumbled as I grabbed my on-board luggage and ran to the front of the plane.

“Sorry Mum and Dad, I was a bit tired…” I trailed off, and yawned as if on cue.

“Right, well let’s just get going!” My Mum replied happily. Wow, since when does someone get this happy about being on a plane…or off one..?

---------------------------------------------

Ugh, terminals are so boring. We’ve been waiting here for half an hour, waiting to board another plane to continue the rest of our flight to London.

“Boarding call for flight QF319, travelling to London from Singapore stopover. Please show yourselves to staff at gate 47, to be taken to your new aircraft. Thank you” A man’s voice announced throughout the airport.

“Right girls, that’s our flight. Let’s get going then…we don’t want to be late this time” My dad laughed lightly as he finished his sentence.

Together, we walked down to gate 47 and were almost instantly met by a small, Asian woman who gave us a brilliant smile.

“Good ev-e-ning ladies and gent-le-men” the woman spoke slowly. Either, she thinks we don’t understand English properly, or she just can’t pronounce words correctly.

“Sup, mah homie G!” Layla greeted the woman, who gave her a very confused look.

My dad eyed me and Layla before apologising to her for our behaviour.

Honestly, I thought we were being quite well behaved.

Layla and I just stood, talking to each other non-stop, until we were allowed on the plane. Unfortunately we had the misfortune of being seated in the very middle of the air-craft, which meant that I had to walk aaaaall the way up to the back of the plane, and it was just sooo much hassle. I have my fingers crossed that I won’t need to use the toilet on the flight, and if I do, I hope I can at least hold it until we get to London airport. Lazy, I know.

Once we were all settled and had our luggage under the seats in front of us, I just fully relaxed with a pillow and a blanket and pretty much instantly fell asleep…we hadn’t even taken off yet.

---------------------------------------------

“Weeeeeeee’re heeeere” Layla whispered loudly in my ear, as the plane finished it’s decent, and landed on the runway.

I turned my head to look out of the window and saw so many amazing things, but the thing that stood out the most to me was the gorgeous night sky. It was filled with thousands of stars. I had never seen so many stars in the sky at one time. It was absolutely brilliant. And then I realised; We’re in London.
