The Water Is Fine

Constance paces around her room waiting for Caspian to answer his phone. 'Does this boy ever pick up his phone?' she thinks to herself as she holds her phone waiting for an answer. Caspian finally calls her back.

On The Phone

"Hey sis, what do you need? You called me 5 times in the span of 15 mins. You know I'm busy working right now, I had a morning shift."

"Right! I'm sorry but it's an emergency... Mom and dad are doing the river ceremony for the rivers daughter and son!"

"Pffffft, we all know it's going to be us... I don't need to do anything, you shouldn't even be worried. It's mom and dad we are talking about."

"Caspian what if it's not us!? What if it's our older siblings, Raya and Raiden!"

"No way it's going to be them!!"

"What do you mean!? They are older than us you know... mom and dad usually give it to the next ones under them."

"Oh shit... you're right. What do you suggest we do? It's not like we can change mom and dad's mind."

"Yeah I guess you're right.. maybe we should just watch our older siblings be the son and daughter of the river..."

"I hate that idea because now I'm jealous of them. I wasn't worried but I keep forgetting our older siblings."

"How can you forget?! They are literally... wait never mind they are barely in our lives. No wonder you forgot."

"Exactly my point! They don't even deserve it since they are never with us, as soon as they were our age they were gone! Look at us, we are still with mom and dad, and we are working! They just straight up left our town."

"Ok... well I'll let you go back to work Caspian. I love you."

"I'm coming home now anyway, I'm going to talk to my boss. I'll see you soon, love you too."

She sighs, angry that her older siblings get to be the rivers son and daughter after their parents. 'It's not fair!' She thought to herself.

Caspian's POV

I walk over to my boss's office and knock politely. She yells come in and I walk into the office.

"Hey Caspian! How can I help you?"

"Hey... uh so my parents are going to host the rivers daughter and son ceremony and it's at 11am... but my shift doesn't end till noon. It is possible to leave early so I can watch the ceremony? I'll come to work after, I promise!"

"Absolutely! Can you work at the 2 o clock shift then?"

"Yes I'll take that! Thanks boss!"

"Absolutely! Also you better tell me who is the rivers daughter and son! I bet it'll be you and Constance, you guys so deserve it!"

He nods and walks out of his workplace and starts to drive home.

Caspian comes home from work and knocks on his sister's door.

"Constance! I'm home, can we talk in your room about something?"

"Sure come on in Caspian!"
