Virginia Beach, VA Two Days Later...
Indigo's grand opening was in the next few hours, and Giovanni was filled with excitement. He had no doubts that opening night would be one for the books, and he was waiting to see it in real time. Nothing could ruin this day for him, not even his dad or his brother.
Speaking of the father-son duo, he was set to meet up with them for the morning. Since gaining a higher position in the business, Giovanni had to be brought up to speed with everything he needed to know.
"You've been in the wind." Gabriel, his older brother, commented as he sipped from his cup of coffee.
"I've been handling business. That's something pops will understand." Giovanni responded blandly.
"Your own business. You haven't been tending to anything related to this family's business." Gabriel said.
"You don't know what the fuck I been doing." Giovanni barked back, his face dropping into a frown.
"Chill." Gabriel threw his hands up, a small smirk pulling at his lips. "No need for the malice."
"Don't start that shit with me, Gabe." Giovanni pushed past him and walked further into his childhood home.
"I know I don't hear y'all in here arguing." Gisselle, their mother, entered the family room.
"That's Gabe." Giovanni told her, welcoming her into his arms as he walked over to her. He planted a kiss on her forehead. "How you doing, mama?"
"I'll be good when my sons can act like they got some sense." Giselle held her finger up with a frown on her face. She went over to hug Gabe and kissed him on the cheek. "Why are you always starting with your brother?"
"He can't help it, ma." Giovanni said.
"Whatever. Y'all come sit down for breakfast. Your father will be down in a minute." Gisselle said as she led them to the kitchen. "I hear everything with the grand opening is tonight. I'm proud of you, Gio. I can't wait to see how everything turns out."
"Thanks, ma. We were supposed to open up in a week, but we got the green light to move everything up to tonight. Either way, I'm glad everything worked out." Gio explained with a smile.
"What about your other duties?" Gabriel inserted, folding his arms across his chest.
"I'm on everything." Giovanni assured him.
"Let's see how that goes." Gabriel mumbled.
"For once in your life, can't you be happy for me? I've celebrated all your accomplishments, but you can never give the same. What the hell is wrong with you?" Giovanni slammed his fist down on the table.
