Brielle Davis
I stood at the bus stop waiting for him. It was 7 a.m. and I was shocked to see I had finally beat him to our stop. My teeth chattered as I nervously stomped my foot waiting for Chris to hurry up. After another 5 minutes, he ran down the pavement, catching his breath as I watched his breath condense. Wow, it's cold.
"Hey Bri!" He yelled, snapping me out of my thoughts. I smirked and called him closer with my hand.
"You know I beat you to the bus stop today, right?" I spoke quietly as I took in the chilled air.
"B-but I can exp-" he stuttered.
"Nope. That means you lost the bet!" I squealed as I tried to control my excitement.
"Chris...Hello?" I waved my hand in front of his face as he continued staring at me. "Do I have something on my face?" I asked him, confused.
"Uh, no it's just that- you see, uh Bri..." He continued.
"What?" I asked.
"Imma beat you to the bus!" He ran up the steps and plopped down in my favorite spot next to the window as he let out a sigh. This was going to be a long day.
After the school day had ended, Chris and I got off the bus and went to my house to chill and watch some TV. Before I could open the door, he burst into the living room and hopped on the couch.
"Chris my mom is going to freak if you leave any crumbs on the couch!" I yelled as he took a huge bite out of a Poptart.
"Whatchu gonna do about it?" He smirked, waving the Poptart in the air. I ran over to the couch and snatched it out of his hand, then licked it.
"You did not just lick my Poptart with your hot breath!" He groaned as I laughed and changed the channel.
"Jokes on you if you think I'm not gonna eat it though." He shrugged, finishing up the Poptart and scooting closer to me.
"Chris stop before I kick you where the sun don't shine. I can't believe I've already went through 10 years with you." I sighed as he laughed.
"That's because you love me." He chuckled, making a kissy face, but I just pushed him away and went upstairs.
After I finished up my homework, I walked back down the steps to see Chris sleeping on the couch. I quietly walked towards him and sat down next to him and tried not to giggle as he talked in his sleep.
"B-but I dont want to..." He pouted. I laughed as I tapped him on the shoulder and he opened his eyes.
"Briiiiiii." He yawned as he stretched on the couch and pulled out his phone.
"Stop drooling on my pillows geez."
"Sorry I was tired. I'm bored though, wanna watch a movie or something? It is Friday." He asked as he yawned once again.
I fanned the air once I smelled his breath. "Sure, but brush your teeth first you smell like hot trash."
"Emphasis on the hot part." He smirked as he walked into the guest room to brush his teeth.
"Ugh whatever." I sighed.
I've known Chris since we were both six years old, and I can't believe our friendship lasted this long. At this point, he's more my brother than anything else.
"Ready Bri?" Chris smiled as he casually scrolled through Netflix.
"Yeah hold on the popcorn is almost ready!" I called from inside the kitchen.
"Nah I'll take care of it Bri, you pick the movie."
"Okay whatever." I said as I made my way to the couch and Chris walked into the kitchen preparing the popcorn.
"C'mon hurry Chris it's about to start!"
"Chris what's taking so l-" I looked up at him and he was standing by the couch, staring at me with a huge smile on his face.
"Chris..." I walked up to him and took the popcorn bowl as he came back to his thoughts.
"Right, the movie." He said chuckling.
