Chapter sixteen

Luke's P.O.V

I decided to go to Ally's.

I need to talk to her.

I pull up at her house and get out of the car.

As I go to knock on the door it opens and Jake leaves the house.

„I need to talk to you as well" he says furiously.

„Why?" I ask.

„You'll see" he says and leaves.

I go up to the 3rd floor and knock on Ally's and Cody's apartment.

„What do you want?" Ally screams as she opens the door.

„Oh hey Luke. I thought you were.."

„Jake?" I interrupt her.

She nods and motions for me to come inside.

„What did he want?" I ask as we sit down on the couch.

„Nothing"

„Ally"

„Fine he wants me to go to the police and tell them it was a misunderstanding and that he didn't do anything"

„Ally no! You can't do that!" I just hate him more and more each second.

„I know but-"

„But what?"

„Well he said I'll do it anyway if I want or not. I don't know what he means though"

„He's just an ass"

„Yeah but uh why're you here?" She asks changing the subject.

„Oh yeah uh I don't know I just needed to get away I guess"

She nods and we sit in silence for a while.

It's nice to have someone you can be quiet with.

There's not a lot of people you can do that with.

„Why do you think he does it?" She asks after a few minutes.

„Does what?"

„Well lie to Avi and threaten me"

„I don't know. Secrets, fear"

„Secrets? Fear?"

„Yeah secrets destroy you. Slowly but surely. And if someone finds out a secret and tells"

„You think he pushed her because she knew something she wasn't supposed to?"

This all seems like some movie.

But this is real life.

And I can't press pause if I need to take a breath.

It goes on no matter what.

„I dont know just a wild guess"

We fall into silence again.

We stay silent for a few more minutes until Cody comes crashing through the door.

„Did something happen?" He asks as soon as he saw us.

I shake my head.

„Everything's still the same" Ally sighs.

Cody puts his bag away and joins us on the couch.

He doesn't try to start a conversation he just sits down and waits for one of us to start.

„Jake threatened me to tell the police he's innocent" Ally blurts out after a while.

„He what?" Cody is clearly shocked which is understandable.
