❝The... Music?❞

-Lily's POV-

"We'll let you two talk." I said, smiling as we all left the room.

Gillian turned to me with a huge grin as the others walked away to do their own thing. "So, she's from your farm? Does that mean you guys are like next level smart?"

I chuckled, "There were four of us at the house who Mom said topped everybody there. Me, Emma, Norman and Ray. Me and Norman were shipped off to seperate places at the same time. The day I got here... He was most likely already dead before I left the gate." I said.

I watched as Gillian's expression turned sad. "I'm sorry." She said sincerely.

I shook my head, smiling. "Don't be. I think of it as he's in a better place now where he can't be hurt." I said gently.

She smiled gently, "And what about Emma and Ray?" She asked.

"Me and Ray were... really close. The night I left, he was distraught. Even our Mama was distraught at the gate. It wasn't something you'd typically expect from a caretaker when you're merely food. Anyway, Yeah. Me and Ray were best friends. He's the reason I know so much about the farms and the houses and such. But I never imagined anything like this."

Gillian nodded, smiling gently. "Goldy Pond isn't exactly what anybody would imagine." She said, "It shocked us all at first too. Our first hunt was the scariest."

—-----------------

-Gillian's POV-

I had never seen anything like it. I was brought in, no warning and I had no idea who anybody was at first.

My first hunt was the most scariest thing I've ever seen and been put through. I didn't understand why it had to be me. Or any of us, for that matter.

I looked behind my shoulder as me, Milo and Alison ran away. I saw that Alison was falling behind a little bit and they were catching up.

"No, no, no!" I muttered as I grabbed her arm, forcing her to run faster, only earning a grunt from her.
