"For all who journey to this newfound paradise, we welcome you. Indigo Park offers a slice of the American dream to call your own." Spoke the man responsible for the long defunct amusement park you were researching for another expedition. You sat in your room, littered with merch of Indigo Park, and even notes on posters on the walls. "In this place, echoes of days gone are brought back to life as a new generation captures a glimpse of the exciting potential of tomorrow." Continued Issac Indigo, the old commercial of the original opening playing on your computer, "Indigo Park pays homage to the values, dreams, and unwavering truths that gave rise to our great nation. Here, you embark on the journey of a lifetime, a place of creativity, joy, and fantasy, where your dreams-"
The old tape then burned away as the video ended, and you leaned back in your chair, stretching your limbs before glancing over to your second monitor. On it was a private chat with a friend of yours, where you had explained the idea to her and asked if she wanted to join you. While she'd rejected, she still said to be careful, not wanting to pay for your bail if you were caught. After rereading the message channel, you turned your chair around and got up, beginning to pack for the trip.
You didn't plan on being there for too long, so you only packed a few bits of food, along with a water bottle, extra batteries for your camera, and a flashlight. Zipping up your bag, you looked to a newspaper you'd paid a decent bit of money to get online. It was rather old, and had a few ring stains on it from the previous owner, but the main text was still eligible. 'LOCAL PARK'S SUDDEN CLOSURE' was the big headliner for the issue from October of 2015. Exiting your room, you walked down into the garage where your car stood. Entering and starting the vehicle up, you opened the door and drove off to the location of Indigo Park.
It was a couple hour drive from your place to where you remember going to as a kid, but you were now in front of an open gate littered with trespassing signs, urging not to pass. Disregarding them, you squeezed the car through the open space and into the wooded area surrounding the park. It was a further long drive untill you finally reached the park entrance itself, the faded purple gate with images of two of the mascots beside it.
The place was as desolate as you expected as you drove under the gate and into the main parking lot. The faded lines indicating the parking spots didn't catch your attention as you parked up near a fence that had been set up in front of the main gate. You gathered up your stuff and exited your car, walking up to the fence to examine it. Despite showing age, it still held strong. So you took a few steps back as you put your camera away, before running up to the gate and using your momentum to climb up and over, jumping down onto the other side.
Double checking to make sure you didn't leave anything behind, you turned your camera on once again and attached it to your bag strap before grabbing your flashlight. Flicking it on, you began walking past the small stone walls and old lamp posts with banners still attached. The moon shone brightly through the sky as you approached the main gate. You also spotted various large concrete chunks about, rebar sticking out of some of them.
Finally reaching the massive gate, you noticed all the trash and old boxes about as you looked for anyway to get past the closed purple doors. They were to tall and smooth for you to try and climb over like before, so you'd have to find another way over. As you were looking about, you spotted a stray plush of one of the mascots sitting next to the gate. Going over and picking the stuffed lion up, a nearby light suddenly sparked to life, lightly scaring you as you nearly dropped the plush you were holding.
"Hello?" You instinctively called out, before face-palming yourself for doing so. 'What kind of idiot calls out to something mysterious?' You internally asked yourself as you placed the plush in your bag and slowly approached the now visible door. As you approached, the door automatically opened to what appeared to be a staff operated area. Seeing a camera by the door, you slowly walked in, ready to defend yourself against anything.
