[Volume 6, START!]

Season 3 has genuinely some of the best content AOT has to offer in my opinion.

Yes, the title is referencing "The Man in the High Castle" TV show—the one where Germany and Japan won WWII—but that shouldn't matter, right~?

Ah, thank you for 300 followers, by the way. I'm feeling pretty good.

The Eldian government was divided into an ad-hoc set of institutions that provided the day-to-day running of the government and the country as a whole, or lack thereof.

Ideally, at the top was the Monarch, who ruled the country absolutely and with finality by all powers vested into them by God. Whatever they said was the law of the land and that created problems with governance.

By problems, it means by decree of the Monarch anything can change on his or her whim, no matter the advice from their advisory council. This can be compared to European monarchs such as Louis XIV, or the 'Sun King', who ruled for over 70 years as a king who could do whatever he wanted due to the nobility's lack of power.

Speaking of the nobility, this brings me to the governing bodies who rule in the Monarch's name.

The Chancellery is what one would equivocate to the lower house of parliament back in my world. It was headed by the Chancellor, who was responsible for setting the agenda for legislation and passing budgets.

However, there is an issue with this institution.

The system is fundamentally broken.

This position is not elected by any means and only seeks to represent the residents of Wall Sina, who are the richest within these Walls.

I'm sure you can figure out what happens there; legislation and budgets are passed that benefit the citizens of Wall Sina, and there are no obligations or commitments to the lower classes.

With the rather...quick radicalization of society permeated by a certain individual, there is nothing more fit than to reform.

The Chancellery, for all its sanctity and claims to be a separate house of government, is superseded by the next institution on the list, and the most powerful behind the monarch's word.

The Royal Assembly essentially acts as a sort of "House of Lords" or "Privy Council".

It is made up of individuals from the nobility, high-ranking members of the military, Church and very notable citizens.

This assembly can propose and pass legislation separately from the Chancellery and reject legislation from said Chancellery. By their words, they serve directly under the monarch and carry out his wishes, while they just carry out their own in the monarch's name.

While I do enjoy the efficiency of their legislative power, the new society will not stand for it.

As much as I'd like to rule with unchecked power, certain reforms and restructuring initiatives would bring dividends for the stability of the Eldian state—such as a constitution, civil code, separation of powers/independent judicial branch and an effective bureaucracy.

Said reforms would also save me time securing my power and prevent people from copying me in the future.

It had only been a day since I had secured the capital and I was slated to meet with high-ranking Military officials.
