"Fuck!"

Doone had disappeared from view and I had no idea where he went.

"It's okay," Colt slurred as he stopped beside me. He swayed on his feet, leaning against me for support. "We'll find him."

I pushed him upright and grabbed his hand. "Let's go." Colt staggered along behind me as I dragged him down the street. My eyes caught a familiar figure. Doone jumped the fence, down towards the street. "C'mon!"

Colt and I followed after him. I leaned over the fence, to see Doone getting into a taxi. "Shit," I muttered under my breath. "Fuck me..."

"Let's cut him off." I looked up at Colt. He tilted his head in the other direction and I nodded in agreement. "This way."

I followed Colt down the street and around the corner, jumping the fence and landing on the side walk of a main road. Colt pulled me behind a bus stop and I immediately rolled my eyes at the huge projection of Tom Ryder on the LED screen. Colt noticed it too. "God damn... He really is a beautiful man."

I quirked an eyebrow amusedly. "You think?" He nodded lethargically, a lazy smile on his face, which slowly morphed to a pout. "Oh... don't worry, Colt." He looked over at me with puppy dog eyes, leaning back against the screen. "You're so much prettier than him."

Colt's eyes widened. "Really?" I nodded, biting the inside of my cheek as an amused smile threatened to appear. "Thank you, Skye." He reached out and took both my hands in his. "You're prettier than Tom Ryder, too."

The smile I was trying to suppress escaped and Colt beamed when he noticed it. 'Thanks, Colt." He nodded like he did something extraordinary and let go of my hands, reaching into his pocket. I peered around the bus stop to see a taxi heading towards us. Colt, pulled the mouth guard from his coat. "What are you doing?"

"You know what I'm doing," he replied, putting it in his mouth. "I'm gonna stop this car."

I shook my head. "You are clearly high, Colt." I grabbed his shoulder and shook it, trying to get his attention, which was currently focussed on the oncoming car. "This is stupid—"

"—I don't have time for this. We'll talk about it later."

All I could do was watch as Colt sprinted out into the middle of the road, only to stand still as the taxi collided straight into him. I watched in horror as he rolled off the bonnet, laying still on the asphalt. He didn't move for a few moments, but then—after what felt like an eternity—he groaned in pain.

That was enough.

I ran over to the car where Doone was yelling at the shocked driver to "leave him." I pulled open the door and pointed accusingly at the drug dealer. "What the hell was that about?"

"Woah, woah, woah!" Doone stuttered as I bent over him. "Chill out."

"Where is Tom Ryder?" I demanded calmly as Colt slowly stood up in my periphery. "I know you know where he is."

"I swear; I don't," he replied, hands up in surrender. "I have no idea."

I shook my head. "Bullshit." Colt was stomping over to us now. I looked up, immediately noticing as trail of blood running down his forehead. "Jesus Christ, Colt."

"I'm fine," he mumbled, pushing past me to get to Doone, who now looked a lot more scared—much to my frustration. "WHERE'S RYDER?!"

Doone waved his hands in front of him to ward Colt off. "Look, you're girlfriend already asked me, okay!" I glared at him. "I only drugged you because they paid me to."

"Who's they?" Colt was barely understandable, due to the mouth guard.

"The guy who runs Ryder's security," Doone replied quickly. "I deliver drugs to him at the Pendleton Hotel sometimes, okay?"

"What room?" I asked, nudging Colt aside. "What room is Ryder staying in?"

Doone shrugged. "I don't know what room." I glared, at him, unconvinced. "You know, it changes. Just ask Kevin for thee fruit plate"

"Kevin?" Colt slurred.

"Yes, Kevin." Doone was starting to get frustrated now. "K-E-V-I-N, for the—"

"—I know Kevin!" Colt retorted and I shook my head.

"You know Kevin?"

"No," I interjected, also becoming increasingly irritated. "We don't know Kevin. Who the hell is Kevin?"

"He works at the hotel," Doone explained. "Just ask him for the fruit plate and he'll give you keys." I nodded. "Can you let me go now."

I sighed, backing away from the car and pulling Colt back with me. He was stumbling even more now, eyes rolling back in his head. I stopped. "How long is this going to last?"

"Oh..." Doone shrugged as Colt pulled the mouth guard out with a slurp. "When he stops seeing unicorns."

I glanced over at Colt, who was now reaching out for something non existent. "Great..." I turned back to Doone. "Thanks."

Doone nodded. "Hey, I'm sorry about earlier." I raised my eyebrows in surprise, nodding in acknowledgement. "Good luck." The car pulled away before I could respond.

I let out a sigh. Is this night ever going to end? We just keep going in circles. I glanced over at Colt, who was staring at me. I reached over and grabbed his upper arm to steady him. "Let's go."

"Are we going to see Kevin?" He asked, leaning heavily on me.

I nodded. "Yep, but we've got to make a quick stop somewhere first."

***

A/N: I really enjoyed writing this chapter. I'm trying to do what I did with Snakeskin, where I have little moments between the main characters, but ultimately it's a slow burn. Yes, I'm aware that this film takes place over a couple of days, but I'm going to draw it out for as long as possible.

Anyways, question. What do you want to see in this book? Are there any specific scenes taht I must include? Let me know. I'm interested to know.
