A/N : Hi guys!!! This is my first novel and I hope you all enjoy it. Feel free to give any pointers!

Its been a year.

Its been a year. One whole year. 12/08/2023

I grab my housekeys and my purse in a rush, like I do every morning, or at least the way I've been doing everyday for a whole year now.

"This is why I tell you to wake up just 20 minutes earlier, Grace! JUST 20 MINUTES!!!" A yell from one of the two rooms of my two room apartment travels all the way down the corridor and into the kitchen and into the living room, where I'm now putting my beige heels on. Okay, crazy lady.

I say this in my head of course, cause I would never want to upset my best friend, my mom. She had moved into my two-room apartment a month after the incident, after seeing my sorry attempt at trying to function normally, even though what happened wasn't normal at all.

I walk out of my house and look up at the sky as I silently promise Jake that I would go visit him in the evening, after work. I enter the building by 9.30 a.m., which was a first for me.

"Look what the cat dragged in, bright and early in the morning!" An annoyingly bright voice said, chuckling. I rolled my eyes at Christina, my partner in crime, who'd never left my side since the first day of college.

I handed her the coffee I had collected on my way to the office, and then went to my desk to work on my new account.

We worked at a publishing firm Burberry Books Bros. and I had just started working with one of my favourite authors, Liam Waters. He had recently become our client and I had begged Marvin, my boss and Christina's husband, to let me handle this account. I remember I made a whole ass presentation and bribed him with my mom's cookies to get this client.

"He's an important one, Grace, and we can't let him go. You better not mess this up." I recalled him warning me.

I'd never met Liam Waters, all that I knew about him was that he wrote the best history fiction novels. I'd become a fan right after his fist novel, which was released when I was 22. I also knew that his last publishing agency had done something to really piss him off. He  had remained with the same one for the last 6 years and it must've been something big if he decided to leave after such a long partnership. I was going to meet him for the first time and I could not wait.

At around 6:30 p.m., I get out of the glass covered building and head towards the graveyard to meet Jake.
