Ann stood outside the school gates, her heart racing with anxiety. She had moved to a new town over the summer and was starting fresh at a new school. She clutched her schedule and map, trying to appear confident. As she walked through the gates, she was immediately overwhelmed by the chaos of students chatting and laughing. She felt like an outsider, observing but not participating.

Ben, the school's star quarterback, noticed her standing alone and sneered. "Well, well, well, look what we have here. The new girl. How quaint." He snickered, his friends chuckling along.

Ann tried to ignore him, but Ben wouldn't let up. "Hey, New Girl, what's your name?" he taunted, his voice loud and mocking.

Ann hesitated, her face flushing. "A-Ann," she stuttered.

Ben guffawed. "Ann? That's a pretty lame name. You'll need to do better than that if you want to fit in here."

Chris, who was watching from across the courtyard, felt a pang of sympathy for Ann. He knew what it was like to be targeted by Ben's bullying. He decided to intervene, making his way towards them.He walked up to the group, his eyes fixed on Ben. "Hey, Ben, leave her alone," he said calmly but firmly.

Ben sneered at Chris. "Mind your own business, Chris. This doesn't concern you."

Chris stood his ground. "It concerns me when you're being a jerk. Ann, want to grab a coffee with me and get out of this chaos?"

Ann's eyes lit up with gratitude. "Yeah, that'd be great. Thanks, Chris."

Chris smiled and gestured for Ann to follow him. As they walked away, Ben called out, "You're just wasting your time, Chris. She's not worth it."

Chris ignored him and led Ann to the school café. They sat down at a table, and Chris asked, "So, Ann, how's your first day going?"

Ann sighed. "It was going badly until you showed up. Thanks for rescuing me."

Chris smiled. "No problem. I know what it's like to be targeted by Ben. He thinks he's king of the school, but he's just a bully."

Ann smiled back, feeling a connection with Chris. "Thanks for understanding. I'm Ann, by the way."

Chris smiled. "I'm Chris. Welcome to the school, Ann. I'm glad we met."

As they chatted, Ann felt a sense of relief and belonging for the first time that day.Little did she know, this was just the beginning of a journey that would change her life....❤️❤️💕
