Amidst the urgent calls for an ambulance, my mind raced, attempting to grapple with the sudden upheaval of my reality. It felt as though my entire life was playing out before my eyes, a montage of memories – the good, the bad, and the uncertain future looming ahead. Was this the fabled moment when one's life flashes before them in the face of impending death?

As strangers hurriedly loaded me into the ambulance, a sense of desperation washed over me. Despite having harbored thoughts of resignation in recent years, the prospect of my demise at this juncture filled me with a profound sense of regret. There were apologies left unspoken, wrongs yet to be righted – I couldn't bear the thought of leaving behind unfinished business.

"No, I can't die now," I thought fervently, as the weight of my responsibilities and desires to mend past mistakes weighed heavily upon me. But even as I fought to stay conscious, I felt the inexorable pull of darkness descending upon me.

Amidst the chaos, a voice pierced through the haze, urging me to stay awake. A small torch illuminated my face, its harsh light cutting through the darkness. "He's losing consciousness," the voice echoed, its urgency palpable. "Try to stay awake. We'll reach the hospital soon."

As the blackness threatened to engulf me, I caught a fleeting glimpse of my son and his mother playing with my mother in the backyard of my childhood home – a bittersweet reminder of the life I desperately wished to cling to.

In that moment, as I teetered on the precipice between life and death, I found myself clinging to the fleeting moments of joy and love that had defined my existence. And with every fiber of my being, I prayed for the chance to make amends.
